HONK!

Hey guys! I don't know if I ever mentioned this in a post but remember that musical I auditioned for? Well, about a month ago I received news that I got in (YES) and the past weekend the entire cast and crew went on a starter weekend together.

It was fantastic. We had workshops about improvising and singing, a team building activity, there was a morning workout (my abs still suffer the consequences) and some choir practice. Parts were assigned and we had our first proper read through.
The cast consists of eighteen people (eleven girls and seven guys) aged between fifteen and twenty-seven. And two thirds of the all the guys present (cast and crew) are gay, so no surprises there. :D And everyone was so incredibly nice and fun, which is obviously a good thing considering you have to work with these people for an entire year. But how can you not like them when they are as much into singing and acting as you are? I mean, it's not easy to find people who spontaneously burst into song or who know entire scenes from Beauty and the Beast by heart like you do.

Incidentally, the musical we're going to perform is called Honk, an originally British musical by George Stiles and Anthony Drewe based on the story about the ugly duckling. Apparently, it won the Olivier Award for Best Musical, beating both The Lion King and Mamma Mia. (I KNOW, RIGHT?)

So yeah. March 2010, everyone. Mark my words, it's going to be fabulous!
