Sometimes you find yourself baffled by your own behaviour.

This week I had to drive all around the province to pay my students a visit during their interim activities at local primary schools. It seemed a bit weird to be doing that, especially since I finished my teacher training only last year and have no experience whatsoever.

But anyhow, I was hanging around in a classroom during break time, waiting for the children, the teacher and my student to come back and finish their arts and crafts activity (making paper hats and decorating them). As I was waiting, I had a look at the class's bookcase, which looked pretty disorganised and messy. So instead of minding my own bloody business, I suddenly felt the irrepressible urge to reorganise the entire thing. I put the Roald Dahl books together, put the Goosebumps books where I figured they belonged, made sure all the backs were facing me and that no books were left lying idly on top of other books instead of standing proud and erect on the shelves.

The effect was impressive. It was neat. Too neat, in fact. I had to restrain myself from messing the whole thing up again, just so the teacher wouldn't find out I was snooping around (well, snooping) and touching her stuff. And what's weird is that I'm hardly a neat person. I leave tons of things lying about and am deadly careless about my belongings. And like a proper scatterbrained person, I cannot remember where I put stuff I so desperately need even if my life depended on it. Perhaps it was boredom, or perhaps I have discovered a new dimension to my love for books. Or other people's books in this case.
