Well I don't have much time for the full on update so this will most likely end up being the abridged version.
Work is going well. I am half way done. I have gone on three 9 day field trips and I have 3 more to go with the next one starting early tomorrow morning. The work is good because I get to be outside and hiking so I just feel really healthy. But it's also very monotonous and I'm just not a plant person so I get quite bored sometimes. Fortunately I just listen to my ipod so that helps keep me entertained. Lauren and I work well together for the most part but I think I she would rather take it a little easier than the pace I go at. I'm just not the kind of person who likes to mosey. So when I'm at work I'm working and getting shit done. That's just how I roll. On the one hand I think Lauren likes it and I know that our boss thinks of us as the best team because we are able to get so much more done than all the other teams. But Lauren will often make comments about taking it easier tomorrow or whatever so I know it's definitely a little more than what she would ultimately like to do. Last week was a little different because the Principal Investigator (the big boss) came out to work with us and we worked on a separate project for part of the week looking at the plants that colonize an area after a prescribed burn. That helped change things up for a bit and relieve some of the monotony even though the work was basically the same. At night we have taken to doing crossword puzzles or playing scrabble but honestly I like it best when we work so late that I just come back, eat dinner and go to bed.
The time that I have off has been great and is usually filled to the brim with activities. This past weekend we went to my friend Aaron and Colyn's wedding. The wedding itself was interesting to say the least. They incorporated as many different religious traditions as they could and it involved a lot of singing and standing in the sun. It was a bit long for my taste and I'm not much for singing (unless it's karaoke or rock band!) so it wasn't really my thing but the way the didi their vows was cute. My favorite part of the night was the garter toss. They made it into a joke and so Aaron pulled out several strange items such as a rubber chicken before pulling on a headlamp and finally retrieving the garter. It was very cute. I of course drank way too much as is my usual custom at weddings and ended up mooning a bunch of my friends several times. Then we went to the cabin they had rented and I got in the hot tub half naked. I hadn't brought a swim suit and I'm just not shy. I just don't understand why fat and mammary glands under my nipples means that I can't sit around half naked. All the guys were half naked and no one thinks twice about that. I think I might have ruffled a few feathers but meh. They'll live.
On my next time off Cory, Mike and Eric are going to meet me up near Thermopolis, WY for a camping adventure! Every summer I always mean to go camping and it never seems to happen. This summer I camp all the time but it's different when you do it for fun. But it means that I will be out in the middle of nowhere for the next month :-) Hopefully no one sends me anything important via email because I won't get it :-)
Alright back to packing and making dinner.
