Mother's day is coming up, I am not stressed out. Every year I do a tea party, and almost every year I do a mad scramble to get everything done at the last minute. This year I have been leisurely grabbing the ingredients and I already have the mint truffles done, the almond tea cookies are almost done (I rock), all there is left to do is make the fillings for the sandwiches and bake the pie crusts. On Saturday I will only have to bake a few things (the cranberry and orange scones, buttermilk scones and the crab quiches), put the sandwiches together and set the table. Pretty easy year.
For the invites I made them myself. I took blank cards that had hues of pink, green, blues and browns, glued a piece of pink ribbon to one side of the card border, then I took a picture of my tea set made a pretty Victorian cut border and glued that down, then put some plastic red flowers on in each corner and wrote down a small poem inside the card along with the tea party information. When I got the calls that all the moms, grandmas and sisters could make it we all talked an extra 10 minutes on how pretty the cards were and asked how I came up with the idea. So it goes to show that you can buy a really pretty/awesome card and you get a thank you. You make a card and they will save it, and talk about it for a long time. It makes me happy to do a little something extra special for all these wonderful ladies.
Now all I have to do is finish my photo books, do a few scrapbooks, then my next project will be to start making cards for all occasions. With the left over scraps, cool pictures I have been taking I should have enough materials that would make it fun for me and save us quite a bit of money.
Now time to finish my baking.
