I survived Christian's birthday party...

Saturday January 5th, 2008 was Christian's kids birthday party. We had a total of six boys in the house. All Christian wanted to do was play video games and play outside. It totally amazes me how much birthday parties change over the years. We went from having games like at carnivals (bean bag toss, ring toss, fishing game, etc.), to just letting the kids do what ever. Then we did cake, I made a devils food cake with raspberry filling (all homemade), and a chocolate frosting. The cake was awesome. I made dinner for the kids that were spending the night, and off to the bowling alley. We got there just after 6:30 pm and there was over an hour waiting list. WTF, all bowling alleys close by were like that. Oh well, so the kids decided to go to the family fun center. We get there to see it really wasn't that crowded. I was shocked. I paid for the boys to do laser tag first, my baby brother Zach had so much fun that is what he wants to do for his birthday...just play laser tag. After they played we went downstairs and I dumped $20 into the token machine and split 90 tokens with three boys and took a little for myself. I told the kids to have fun and come get me when they ran out of money. Two hours later they came back not totally out of tokens but ready to do Go Karts. After go karts we finished off the tokens, the kids found a game called Dragon Punch. It looks like a speed punching bag, and you punch it and try for a high score. Sad thing is the 12 and 13 year olds were punching better than the adults. So when the kids were playing a whole bunch of adults were watching. It was great. Also having three boys sitting in the back car talking about how hot girls are is freaking hilarious (just a side note). Christian said best party ever. So next year I think we will just do a family fun center birthday.

Sunday January 6th, 2008 was a birthday brunch for Cord's Grandma Duxbury and for Christian. They were both born on January 7th. I invited most of Cord's family and most of my family. It turned out great. I made 2 quiche Lorraine's (Christian calls then egg pies so they don't sound girly), 2 bowls of salad, 11 big Belgium waffles, 6 quarts of strawberry sauce, and 3 pounds of sausage, Orange juice, coffee and tea. We had about 16 people over, and they all said it was great food and company. Grandma and Christian both got tons of cards and hugs. Grandma really had fun, which is great because she just turned 85 this year. After the party was over Christian and I got to relax until dinner time. We had a visitor come over and make us dinner (which was a special treat) we all grubbed on really yummy fried catfish and hush puppies. Now Christian only wants to eat catfish. He is too cute sometimes.

Monday January 7th, 2008 it's official today Christian turned 12 years old. Monday was a trip, I had a 12 year old in the house and it was our last day of winter break. So what do we do all day, hang out at home. Watched movies, played video games, played cards. Then my mom came over and we had more cake and hot chocolate. Crystal stayed behind with Meghan. Cord and Brian get here just after 5pm and then we headed off for Christian's birthday dinner. We went to the Olive Garden (that is where Christian decided he wanted to go), the one in South center has really cool wait staff. I told Christian he could get anything he wanted as long as he could eat half before desert. So this kid orders the Tour of Italy, big piece of Chicken parm., fettuccine Alfredo, and a huge piece of Lasagna and a coke, also before the food coming out he ate two huge bowls of their house salad and a bread stick (I am scared). Food comes out and that child ate ¾ of his dinner. OMG he just out ate his uncle Brian. For his desert he got a big bowl of Gelato and ate half of it before deciding he is too full to finish. All I am thinking is OMG I am glad I only have one child. We get back home and Christian told me it was the best Birthday weekend ever!!! Then he pipes in, “I wonder what we will do next year”, and then smirked at me. He is too cute.

Birthday gifts Christian got: Stuffed Dragon, Wizardology card game, Game stop gift card, video game from a friend, toy guitar to play with MP3 players, Bobble head penguin bank, and two key chains, 6 birthday cards with 4 cards holding money.

What we got Chris for his birthday: Birthday card w/ $12, Zelda Phantom hourglass for the DS, Green day guitar book, Green Day CD/DVD to go along with the book, new guitar pics, Isound for his PSP, and drum roll......Electric Guitar with amp. Now all he wants to do is play guitar.

So now I really need to clean out the garage!

Exciting news, all the Cedarhurst Elementary children went back to school yesterday!  They are now in their brand new 2 story school.  This is all they are talking about right now.  Also Christian came to the realization today that after summer he will be in 7th grade.  Wow time does fly.

Now time for something completely different:  Time for house work!

birthday's, life, vacation
