In the Deep
Remixtress: Fair Hearing
Music Selection Skills: Poor to None
Music Description: Slow, Quiet, Angsty, Mushy

Tracklist

1. Ryan Adams -- Wonderwall (Original by Oasis)
Comment: Let's get the tortured unrequited longing part out of the way straight off, what do you say.

2. Nickel Creek -- When You Come Back Down (Original by Tim O'Brien)
Comment: :`)

3. Rasputina -- Wish You Were Here (Original by Pink Floyd)
Comment: AUGH YOU IDIOTS, YOU NEVER TOLD EACH OTHER HOW YOU FELT, now Chekov's on the Reliant and Sulu's gonna captain the Excelsior and you'll never see each other ever again, ever, for as long as you live...

4. Elisa -- Sleeping In Your Hand
Comment: ... lol, psych, it was just a dream. Post-coital sparklyness now.

5. The Decemberists -- Bridges and Balloons (Original by Joanna Newsom)
Comment: Happy End.

6. Hikaru Utada -- Hikari (PLANITb Remix)
DANCE BREAK

Now what happens here is that Chekov and Sulu stop in at a space-techno disco and basically ABSOLUTELY GOBSMACK everyone there with their dance moves, which are the best in the galaxy and probably in a lot of galaxies too. They just walk in without a word and start burning up the fucking dance floor and all the other patrons stop to watch their mythical goddamned awesomeness. And all who watch will give up dancing afterwards, weeping for their heavy feet and clumsy bodies.

And no, I didn't add this one because it's Japanese and Sulu is Japanese! Sulu is AMERICAN, thank you very much. It's because the song is "光" and it's sung by "光" and Hikaru is "光"!

You know Chekov thinks that's awesome. You know he's all singing the lyrics as "光という光が私を見つけるううう~" Or talking about 光の光 all the time. In fact, I bet this song is on all Chekov's playlists. (uh, I would have done a Russian one too but I'm so very ignorant of everything Russia, besides that everything was invented there)

Anyway, even though it's dansu dansu, the lyrics are STILL mushy, because it's J-pop. I've personally translated the lyrics (included), taking shameful liberties with them in the name of making sense.

7. Bird York -- In The Deep
Comment: Title track, of course, and the epitome of slow, quiet, and mushy. No more angst for these two; I declared Happy End.

Please enjoy!
