Riding:
Lesson this past Thursday was supposed to be about Emergency dismounts, but Jonathan asked about riding with one rein (we were both riding with rope halters & reins) and so the lesson ended up being all one rein riding, and practicing switching the rein from side to side, and then repeat at a trot/jog. Jonathan is a natural at one rein riding. He says it helps him sit up straight & look where he's supposed to, etc. I seem to wait too long to switch sides, and I tend to whap Dixie's nose, poor thing. Dixie, though, was very patient, or at least, she kept rosy dozing. I was riding with the Parelli pad, and my adductors have been telling me that I did more posting than I should have. Ouch. We did do an emergency dismount at the end of the lesson, and we'll probably do more next lesson. I'm still hoping/dreading that I'll be cantering one of these days.
A question for those of you with horse XP: My instructor says you can't really learn to ride with only one lesson a week. Sure, you can learn the basics, and have fun, but to really get it, you need to be riding multiple times a week. What do you think?
Other Stuff:
Jonathan, who is the awesome, got my computer back to seeing the internet. It can't used the wired connection, only the wireless. Apparently, my port has been trashed somehow, possibly in an electrical storm a month or so ago. Yay for being back on the web!
