Riding 5/23

Practiced more bareback work yesterday, with rope halter.  Posting bareback is definitely good for me, and I'm happy to say that I'm not at all sore today like I thought I'd be.  Used a bareback pad that was new to me, that I really, really like. It's a Parelli pad, with quilted suede on top.  I didn't look to see if it was suede underneath as well, but I loved how the suede helped me "stick", but I could still feel Dixie moving under me.  Last week we used two thick fluffy pads that were comfy, and helped me feel secure, but didn't do much for the communication between me & the horse.  Lyda says those bareback pads are really spendy, but she's recently bought a cheaper version with a velvety material.

The surface of the arena was batter than it was, they've started working on it, and it's broken up now, but still has rocks.  They're going to rake out the rock, and then put down rock dust (but I don't know why yet).

We have to miss riding next week, so next update will be in a fortnight.
