ecmyers and I, like a pair of weenies, skipped Vericon this weekend. However, I'm pleased to say that we used our ill-gotten free time to good effect--we dropped in on two parties we'd have missed on Saturday, and on Sunday, we (read: mostly he) moved four free bookshelves and one free desk into the apartment. Now I have a cozy little writing corner set up in my room, along with a dedicated YA bookshelf (SQUEE!), a SF/F & general bookshelf with specific manga space (YAY!), and a smaller bookshelf for DVDs, games, and assorted hobbies. Not to mention a visible floor.
I also acquired a burn in the shape of the Star Trek insignia (thanks to a kitty scratch intersecting it), which has been more painful than your standard burn because I keep slapping it and saying "One to beam up." I have no idea how I got it, but I'm guessing that it was right after I made a massive dent in someone's car with my rental van (thanks to the illegally-double-parked vehicle across the street), since this is the only time I was distracted and upset enough to have injured myself without realizing. When I say "free" bookshelves-and-desk, I mean "free minus the U-Haul flat fee plus damages." Which I can totally afford! Like totally!
*cry*
Meanwhile, it's now possible to bring at least one of the delights of Vericon home with you:
Collateral Damage, an anime romance board game I enjoy playing each year, has finally been published. Woo woo, mass destruction. :)
Okay, lunchtime. Get thee to a Quiznos.
