Aurora looks like she's thriving well. She must be hitting all the right milestones. From the pics I noticed that she is holding objects with two hands and passing objects from one hand to the other. That's great! (Early Childhood Special Education Teacher.. can ya tell).
As for the kittie... I had similar issues with my kittie, Bebe. The needing thing is a universal cat thing. I have never known a cat who hasn't done it. But I'm hoping yours isn't pushing her nails out when she does it! Mine never have. My Rudy & Bebe used to sleep on my shoulder as kittens and my Indigo (all three gone from my life now :-( used to throw stuff at the dog to wake him up from his bed on the floor in the middle of the night.. so he would wake me up. Spray bottle goooooooooooooooooooooooood!
Jeanine bought water pistols for her amuzement but being so anti violence (guns = violence to me) I hid them from her in the move last year. If she were to finish unpacking her crap (ummm stuff) she would find them :-D
The only encouragement I can give you is... just like the baby, the kitten will eventually either sleep through the night or not bug you. You might try exhausting her before bed using one of those red lazer toys. The light that they chase around... I swear Bandit knows I'm holding the darn thing b/c he stares at it... but as soon as I move the light he's off to chasing it around (and he's 6 years old now)... good luck!
