Well I did it again. I got my second and final tattoo...whew! This one didn't hurt nearly as much as my first did even though I was in the chair three times as long. My initial reaction is that I'm not as enthralled with this tattoo as I was with the fish design however. In my mind's eye I had created an image of what it would look like and it falls short of that. Curtis (the tattoo artist) said to give it 48 hours for the colors to "pop" - for example, the Green was way dark as well as the shading and the Yellow - where's the Yellow again? - he said the Yellow would come through with time. I don't see the Yellow. Also, it's supposed to be a four point Celtic Knot and I got three sharp points and a rounded one...bummer I didn't notice when I was in the studio, not that I think it could be fixed at this point. *sigh*
My hubby says it looks good so I'll take his word because if it did look like shit, he'd be the first to tell me, honestly. Maybe it's because I didn't draw it? I dunno. There was also hardly any "after burn" once the session was over. I guess since it's a meatier area it hurts less? I had wanted Michael to take a few pics of the tattoo tonight but we got so busy and crazy that I didn't remember to ask him until he had gone to bed. I do have a pic that Curtis took of the tat for me while still in the studio right after he had finished it...
It was supposed to look like this (but with a hint of Yellow added)...
Now that it's been 9 hours after being done, I do see a difference in the colors...the Green doesn't look like a Black mess as well as the shading, oh and there is a hint of Yellow in there! Maybe it'll grow on me but as of right now I still am like "ho hum" about it. Do I regret it? No. I just wish I felt like I did on Wednesday after my first tattoo. *shrug*
I'll post more pics of the tattoo tomorrow night after Faire. Michael promised to take pics of it tomorrow and perhaps it'll look even better then - or here's hoping it will anyway.
Oh in other somewhat related news...while I was at The Quillian (the tattoo parlor) I got a new tongue bar. This one is 14 gauge (I was wearing a 12 gauge currently which is slightly thicker) and is a whole 1/4 of an inch shorter than my current tongue bar (which will make my dentist all too happy since it won't be rubbing the gums behind my teeth now - actually that makes ME happy). It now feels as though it's not there at all. Steve, the owner, took care of me with getting me the new bar and putting it in all for the bargain price of $5! Steve was who gave me my tongue piercing 5 years ago. I was very happy about that. Then there was a t-shirt that caught my eye. It reads, "Everybody gets the tattoo they deserve" and I want one, but I told "Santa Claus" so hopefully he'll put that in my stocking...heh heh. We'll see.
///EDITED TO ADD: OH yeah - the colors are coming in. Here's a very blurry shot of my tattoo taken just minutes ago (by myself which was really hard to do and it's a crooked shot since it looks like the a point is up which obviously is not the case) but man, you can see a huge difference:
