Hey~
Well, I had a great day. Ok, it turned out to be a great day after having a somewhat trying and emotional start to the day that is. Let me explain:
My daughter is 17 months old and advanced for her age. As a result of this, we are having our terrible two's start NOW! So, my normal "Angel-of-my-heart" has turned into Linda Blair from The Exorcist. No kidding. This little child of a mere 23 lbs. can thrust her body in such a way that my husband who is a big, strong guy, couldn't even lift her up off the floor without having some difficulties as well. I lost my patience and with that I lost grip. We were on our way out of the house to go to The Green Dragon near Ephrata. It's a flea market for those of you who don't know. Anyway, she started her tantrum for no apparent reason and I found myself saying, "How is it that 23 lbs. of crap could be such a pain in the ass?" Now, for those of you who know me...you know this is not like me AT ALL! My husband was stunned. "Did you just call our daughter a piece of crap?" he asked me. "Yes, because she's being one," was my reply. UNBELIEVABLE! I wanted to wash my mouth out with soap and kick my own ass! I immediately walked away and let Michael handle the baby with getting her hat on. OMG! What kind of mother says such things? I've lost my patience for the first time and I didn't like it AT ALL.
In the car now heading out...I find myself sobbing. Michael thought at first it was because he was playing music from The Pennsylvania Renaissance Faire and I've been missing it so much lately, but that wasn't it. I was so upset about losing my grip of the situation with Ariel. How could I let myself get that way? I explain that to him and he tells me, "YOU are too hard on yourself. This is the first time we had to deal with her being less than pleasant and it's new. It's going to take some getting used to is all." I love my husband. He always knows what to say to me to make it "all better".
At The Green Dragon...This was our first time there and we left kinda' late. We didn't arrive until about Noon. The traffic was awful getting in but man, did we score a primo parking spot!! We walk around aimlessly for a while before deciding that the baby really should be fed (as should we). Footlong hotdogs, anyone? These were good - and cheap! Only $2 each. Tasty buggers too. Ariel of course could not eat (nor would we ever think to give her) a whole footlong hotdog, so Michael made out in that deal. 1/2 to her and 1/2 to him. YAY - everyone's happy. We evidently were there long enough to catch some rays and ultimately all 3 of us got slightly sunburned on our faces. But it was worth it. What a cool place. Afterwards, we went to Rockvale Outlets in Lancaster and then to Park City Mall where there is a Hot Topic store. Michael got a new "spikey" necklace. I got a great pair of Silver hoop earrings that would make J-Lo happy, a pair of hand/wrist warmers and another pair of cat ears (hair clips). This pair is Black with Red on the inside part of the ears. So cute! We ate dinner at TGIF and then made our way back home.
On our way back home...we stopped at a gaming store to see about purchasing some clay poker chips. No deal. The store wanted $300 for a set we can buy on eBay for a mere $100 (total - including the s/h). We will have to get our poker chips elsewhere.
Now I'm exhausted, and off to bed to I go!
