The Weekend Update...

So let me recap my weekend if I may?

Friday we were planning on going out for dinner except that my husband and I both forgot that he had a hockey practice that night. Ah, well - saved us about $40 in the long run I suppose. Oh but good news about Friday...we had a private sale at Boscov's and from 8am - 10am it was for employees too! So, being the frugal folks that we are, we decided to check it out (now this was only for the fine jewelry and electronics departments - FYI). Electronics is where we made our FIND! A 7-disc carousel DVD player. Not only does it play DVD's but also, CD's/CD-R/CD-W/mp3's/VCD and Super VCD's as well. It kicks butt! All this for a mere $70. Then as an added bonus, with every purchase we were able to fill out a raffle ticket for the prize drawing. WE WON! A combo DVD/VCR player, which is perfect for our bedroom - WooHoo!! What luck, but it didn't last long...I say this as on the way home, our car alternator died. Ick! $289.90 was our total. Bleh, our luck doth runneth out on us.

Saturday morning - I was so disappointed. We had hoped to take Ariel out to a park since the forecast was calling for 70 degree temperatures. Alas, it was warm but it also rained all morning stopping around noon. Well, since everything was wet, no park for us. *sighs*

Saturday afternoon - found me cleaning and preparing the house for company. We had some friends over for Poker. Liz and Ken Greener are friends of mine from Northampton. I met Liz way back in the day when I was working for Blockbuster and we invited them down to hang with us and play Texas Hold 'em Poker. (NOTE: This is the second week in a row we're playing Poker and I could EASILY get used to this mind you.) While waiting for our guests to arrive and anticipating future card games in our home, Michael said "How 'bout we buy a card table?" Ok. *squeals* So, off he went to Walmart where they were on sale. He gets back just before my friends arrive which was around 7pm. We hung out for a while just chatting in the kitchen and drinking beer. Then when all was settled we broke out the cards.

Now, keep in mind that we are cheap people. Our Poker playing amount is $5 per person and we are all given that amount in chips to play with (nickels=Blue, dimes=Yellow, quarters=Red and dollars=White). As the night progresses then so does the ante and the betting until we get to a point where we play "no limit" and usually bet "ALL IN" for the last game of the evening. Man, is it fun! We forsee many Poker games in our future!! *winks* I lost, Michael won, Liz lost but Ken won. So KUDOS to our MEN!!

Sunday - My honey bunny had a hockey game in the morning and then after he got back and got ready we headed on up to Allentown to visit with my mom and get Ariel's Easter dress for this year. We decided to go the Lehigh Valley Mall in Whitehall. The mall is set up all "Easter-like" with the 'get-your-picture-taken-with-the-Easter-bunny-station' etc. Well, there was a train ride. For $2 I said, "Let's put Ariel on the train!" So I go on the ride with her. 3 minutes it lasted which I felt was decent for the price. She had a ball! Afterwards, we found THE dress at Macy's and then went to visit with an old family friend of ours.

It was a lovely weekend, no complaints here.
