I don't normally pass things along that are from other sites, but this is a very important thing, and all of the faire group knew her.  I will place it under a cut to save space, but I think it may be really important to read.

forwarded message from a friend of mine:

We lost a young one this time....
Pictures will be forthcoming, in case you don't remember her by name.

Athene Renee Lorber- age 21
Born November 23rd 1986
Died November 8, 2008

She worked Renaissance Faires, Pirate Festival, and Dickens Faire.

She's worked for Fellowship Foundry, Puzzle Rings, Hathors Mirror, among others.

She was looking for a place in Alameda with several of her friends. They were playing games all night, and drinking wine, around 3 they went to bed. Athena didn't wake up. They tried resuscitating her at the hospital but her heart kept failing as soon as they stopped.

A full autopsy is being done. Preliminary results say it seems that she had drank too much combined with the other medical drugs she was taking and her body couldn't take the combination.

Athena had stated to people before that she didn't want a funeral. She wanted to be cremated and spread among the redwoods in Armstrong Forest. So that will be what we do.

We will be planning two events on Athena's birthday weekend

Her birthday is the 23rd. On the 22nd there will be a kind of homespun potluck party at a Sonoma coffee shop (who donated the space) where friends are welcome to come and share their memories- and yes everyone is invited.

I don't have the addresses yet.

On the 23rd her friends in Alameda are having a farewell as well. I don't have any of the details on this yet.

We are also having a memorial for her at Dickens Faire.
