Almost at once Eowyn begins her search for Sir Kay the Steward, or others who may suggest some form of occupation. Her restlessness outweighs even her distaste, and she finds herself eventually near the kitchens, though only after much wandering.

an open post! Feel free to stop her anywhere, if you'd like.

Kay is not that hard to find, as he's often muttering curses under his breath, or scowling at the refrigerator. Currently, he's looking at a sheet of paper with a frown, a piece of charcoal idly tapping against the edge of the paper.

'My lord?' asks Eowyn, though she looks first to see that there is none more idle to trouble in his stead.

"Yes?" He looks up, and adds, "my lady?"

'I look to find Sir Kay. Do you know of him, or where he may be found?'

"Guess that depends on what you want with him." But he straightens, putting his charcoal down.

'I am told that those who would not be idle do well to find him. I would have of him what work he can give.'

"Ah. I'm Sir Kay. What kind of work were you looking for?"

'Anything to speed the hours and occupy my mind.' 'Anything' is, perhaps, a falsehood, but it's a simpler place to start.

"Well, mostly the place keeps itself warm and clean, so it's the food needs help with. We can always use more cooks, people to serve at table."

She nods. 'And that is all?'

"Well, not much gathering to be done in the middle of winter, and it's too early to look at planting. We've got people out hunting, but we're trying not to take too much too fast."

'Then send me to serve, if it is there help is needed.'

He nods. Raising an eyebrow, he asks, "Have you a name, my lady?"

'Eowyn of Rohan,' she replies.

"Well enough. I'll add you to the rotation. You read, m'lady?" He's had some participants who don't.

'Some,' she says, and her gaze slips momentarily downwards before she raises her eyes to meet his again.
