Doctor Who: 6x12 - Closing Time
What a lovely episode! I'm glad the Cybermen were more secondary to the Doctor and Craig's relationship and the Doctor confronting his own mortality.
It was so funny to see the Doctor be his goofy alien self, but now that Craig's on board with the weirdness it was even better. So many good little moments! Stormaggedon! The Doctor declaring his love for Craig! The Doctor getting those with small brains to shush!
Again we see that the Doctor needs someone, and while it's good that he knows he's a danger to people, it's also true that death and destruction can happen to random people with no connection to the Doctor. Gah, loved that Craig pointed that out, and that the Doctor's done a lot of good too.
AMY AND RORY! AMY AND RORY! That was... so beautiful. Just the look on the Doctor's face! And O.M.G, AMY'S A MODEL! That's so fucking stellar I can't even. Though I wonder if the tagline for the perfume is a coincidence, or if she's actually the creator of the perfume? Either way, I think that's such a cool career for her!
FFFUUUU THE POWER OF LOVE SAVED CRAIG AND DESTROYED THE CYBERMEN! STOP MAKING ME FEEL THINGS, MOFFAT!
And and and then? The Doctor cleans Craig's place, using his last few hours, and and, he takes the blue envelopes, and and Craig gives him the Stetson. HEY RIVER, THAT WAS CRAIG'S STETSON. HOW DARE YOU SHOOT A HOLE IN CRAIG'S STETSON.
Speaking of River... holy shit! I can't be the only one who wants to destroy Eyepatch Lady piece by piece. It's one thing if you want to protect others from someone you see as a threat, but she's so... devoid of any redeeming qualities that we've seen so far that I'm just going "EVIL EVIL. DIE DIE DIE! KNOW YOU TRULY FAILED IN YOUR GOAL."
Anyway, I'm not worried. We know something will happen to keep the Doctor around, but I'm interested to see how that will happen, and if everything will be resolved before the finale or not. I mean, we know what happens since we saw it in the first episode this season, but it seems like a lot has to build up to it.
And I know this wasn't shown in the preview, but I saw promo images on Tumblr so I want to talk about them really quick. If you don't want to know, do not highlight the space below. If you do, then highlight away!
Amy and Rory are in the finale, and we know that Karen and Arthur are coming back next season, though we don't know for how many episodes. Anyway, the promo images show the Doctor, Amy, Rory, and River all wearing the metal eyepatch over their right eye. I guess this is something to do with the organization Eyepatch Lady belongs to? Or maybe there's a mini computer screen inside, beaming info directly into your eye! IDK, but anyway, Rory's wearing military garb and a beret. LOL. So it'll be interesting to see what part they have to play.
