"On November 10, 1775, a Corps of Marines was created by a resolution of Continental Congress. Since that date many thousand men have borne the name "Marine". I still remember you recommending I read them when we presented Elizabeth with her Mameluke. Which she named "Gunny," because (as she said) every junior officer wants a good NCO at her side.
