Talk about a hectic Thanksgiving break. The summary in a nutshell...important stuff at the end.
Mike moved into his new house. It's really adorable and it's going to look super cute when it's done. Right now, though, he doesn't have a room...or a bed. So the poor guy has been sleeping on the couch. I hope that they can get everything fixed soon. He's the only one down about the move, poor guy. He and his mom are both at Anne Taylor now, which is nice.
Thanksgiving was really nice. I got to see my mom's side of the family and Mike's family. Good food, good people.
My mom and I have been getting into these little feuds that basically revolve around the fact that whenever I'm in town, the house is more like a hotel. I'm here for my bed, to have my dad do my laundry, and to get food. And I keep on telling her that if I didn't want to see her I would just come in town and stay at Mike's house without telling her. On again/off again fights. They last 10 minutes and they're done.
Our neighbor across the street passed away on Tuesday. We went to the wake today. I haven't seen their kids in ages...one is a college grad, one's a college senior, one is about to finish high school, the other is a junior. And they're all so tall. I barely recognized them.
THE HIGHLIGHT OF MY DAY
My dad sees a neighbor he knows vaguely at the wake and they start talking.
My dad says to him, "I haven't see you out walking your dog recently."
"He died last year."
Work has been crazy. I love the Christmas season, but some of the people can just go to the bowels of hell in a flaming handbasket. Like the bitchy lady who complained about me to my manager on Black Friday. Other than that, good hours and good people. And they're letting me be on register...my favorite place!
Yesterday was completely amazing and made my vacation. (After the whole Black Friday thing.)
I met up with Anna and Justine and we went to Near West Theatre. We were on a waiting list to get tickets to see "Beauty and the Beast," featuring Davey and Roger. We thankfully got in and found seats toward the back where we couldn't see a whole side of the stage. We ended up moving to the second row before the second act started. The guys were an absolute riot! Davey got a lot of feature dance spots and was the cutest enchanted object ever. Roger was so great as Monseiur D'Arque...scared the hell out of me, was he creepy. (He looked like Snively Whiplash from Dudley DoRight.)
Anyway, Roger came out to see us after the show and immediately wanted my opinion...the "Disney queen." We were trying to find Davey, since I meant to surprise him. (Roger told him he saw us in the audience.) Anna is standing on the steps of the stage trying to find him. "Oh, how about the guy walking toward us?" *squee* I got to see Davey! Here! In Cleveland! Oh, I miss him so much...Davey is just so incredible. He was the first real friend I made at Heidelberg and he means so much to me I can barely find the words to explain it. Unfortunately, the boys were on their way to the cast party and couldn't party with the girls.
So the girls went to Applebee's and had dinner. We each got a drink (strawberry daiquiri goodness!), split an appetizer, and got a dessert shooter. We spent dinner reminiscing about SAA drama and randomly burst out into the SAA alma mater.
Girls, I remember the rest of the second verse!!
Alma mater, Stella Clara,
lead o'er the paths of strife.
All of your counsels we will cherish
till we reach the goal of life.
Saint Augustine, here we hail thee,
with our songs of love sincere.
Joyous pride and tender feeling,
hearts aflame and voices clear.
Yeah...sorry. Pride for SAA *cough* I mean the "Lakewood Catholic Academy." Damn children taking over our high school.
I don't see those girls often enough. Seriously, last night just made my break.
