...I won't grow up?
If there is one thing that I just can't stand it is little quirks about you that you don't like about yourself that other people happen to bring up every once in a while.
Example: tonight at dinner.
I was sitting around with people from RBCA (both mom's...40's), the head of the Guild (man, 30-ish), and the guild's two interns (girls, my age). I knew the RBCA ladies rather well, but not the Guild people at all. We were having dinner at Brio's and swapping stories. The head of the Guild was talking about how he met his current girlfriend and how two days after they met they "sinned" for four hours. I was laughing along with everyone else, enjoying the story. Heather (my boss for RBCA) suddenly looked concerned, turned to me and said,
"Oh, poor little Nikki..."
I'm 21 years old! I know that he's talking about sex, fucking, screwing...whatever.
Then, when we were talking about awkward/scary encounters, I told highlights of the Kevin story, to which one of the interns replied,
"And I thought I was naive."

I can't fucking stand being treated like a child. It's so humiliating! I haven't been living in a box for 20 years. I do swear, I know what a penis is, I know what a vagina is, I know what sex is, I know how to have sex, I know the jokes and comments associated with having sex, I know what an alcoholic beverage is, I've had an alcoholic beverage...
I'M NOT TWELVE YEARS OLD!!! Just because I love Disney is not grounds for people to treat me like I'm twelve!!
And yes, I know that I'm naive! I know that I am too fucking trustworthy. Please DON'T remind me!! I know! Yes, I would rather take on fifty projects before I told someone "no" and risked losing their friendship.
I'm sick of being treated like I'm a child. People don't take me seriously when I make adult comments, I don't get invited to go to parties or social functions because apparently I'm not a "party" person. Just because I don't get drunk and dance on the table and make out with the first guy I see does not mean that I am not a "party" person. I know how to have a good time. I can have a fucking blast without being drunk or having sex.
