Tutorial # 1 - All These Burns (Deidara)

Apr 21, 2007 18:56

This icon placed first in akatsuki_awards and it is very simple to make, so I thought I'd share. Er, this is my first tutorial so I apologize if some things aren't clear.

Program: Adobe Photoshop

We'll be going from this to
 in 5 simple steps.

1. First, crop the very first panel of this image at 100x88 px with the crop tool, but center only on Deidara (be sure NOT to include the bold lettering). When finished, open a brand new 100x100 px canvas. Copy and paste the image you have just recently cropped onto the new blank canvas (CTRL A>>CTRL C>>CTRL V).

What you should probably be seeing:

2. Close the image and then re-open it. Crop the fifth panel (If you count from left to right it should be fifth) at 26x88 px. You should have half of Deidara's face. Copy and paste (CTRL A>>CTRL C>>CTRL V) the image over the first one and make a straight line in #FFFFFF with the line tool, to separate the two pictures. The newly pasted picture should overlap the bottom #FFFFFF bar. Since we don't want that, select the overlapping bit with the rectangular marquee tool and then press deleat.

What you should probably be seeing:

3. Next, type in "ALL THESE BURNS" in capitals, color #000000, using Carnivalee Freakshow. Set the font to 14.5 pt and SHARP. Add a 2 px stroke in #FFFFFF, set to outside. Place the words directly onto the blank bar. Next, place this tiny text onto the bottom left corner of the icon.

What you should probably be seeing:

4. Paste this light texture by me and set it on SCREEN 100%.

What you should probably be seeing:

5. Paste this edited texture by
ianthinae on top and set it to SCREEN 100%. Place the texture above the #FFFFFF bar so it lightens the letters and the rest of the icon. Last, but not least, save the icon as a .png format and you're finished!

Finished product:

This is how your layer bar should look like:

Well, that's it! I hope you found this easy. I had (and still have) a lot of trouble with photoshop, so I decided to make this tutorial for strugglers like me. XD  Feel free to friend this journal for possible updates, although your f-list will be spammed with my random rants, since this is also where I write personal life entries. :) Anyways, if you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask. If you have comments, feel free to share!
