So, I had my first paralyzing night terror type dream today. It was very strange, and as the name would imply... *ahem*, terrifying. It's a pretty vivid memory even though it happened hours ago, I guess dreams like this stick with you for much longer than the norm... so, on to the story!
I fell asleep on the couch reading Roman Civilization (yes, it was that exciting learning how they form colonies and municipalities) and then I had this very normal, very random dream as I always do. It involved sleeping on the side of the road, waking up and having no shoes, etc etc... However, the dream took a drastic turn soon after. All of the sudden there was this odd orange flash of light that confused me and my humble counterpart. We discussed the light for a second, and then I suppose I heard something and looked up to the sky. I saw this small alien ship unlike anything I'd seen before descending on me fairly rapidly. From here on it's very hard to explain the feeling of it all. I could simply say I felt what I presume to be absolute terror. A kind of terror that I could feel throughout every inch of my body. It honestly might have been the most intense feeling I've ever had. It felt as if I knew with absolute confidence that I was going to die in seconds.
Before doing said dying however, I "woke up" and I could see (and I mean literally, I knew visually) that I was in my room. I could see Borats face peering down at me, which is terrifying enough I might add... The thing is, my mind didn't seem to want to comprehend this for a few seconds. For those few seconds I was still frozen in... this full body panic, or fear. It slowly subsided, but after these few seconds I involuntarily started to doze off again, I couldn't stop myself, it was the oddest thing... As I started to fall asleep again, before my eyes even closed, I felt it start to return. An uncomparable surge of terrible dread, and finally managed to snap myself awake and jump to my feet. The only good thing is, it subsided immediately after getting off the couch and waking myself up a bit...
Yes yes, a aandom post, but alas I figured I would share in my very strange first (and hopefully last) experience with this...
In reality it's impossible to describe your subjective experiences of things like these. I know I can type out an explanation like this, but it's not something that words can ever cause you to feel, or truly understand. But hey, that's a whole other topic entirely... so what I'm getting at is, does anyone have a similar experience or story? I'm quite interested in the whole subject now that I feel I can relate much better...
