He's like Professor Layton but angrier.

"Just fine" my ass! Does our idiot of a captain have any idea how hard it is to sleep with all this noise!? And while I'm at it, has anyone else noticed how weird it is that he hasn't noticed any of the crazy things going on around here? It was right there! He had to look about two feet behind him or listen for a split second and he'd notice!

If I remember correctly, Commander Orion said that he and his crew aboard their little Ark--ah, shuttle--said that they had been following the Crucible when they found us on Eos. It might be them, though I am not sure.

Orion?

I thought he was supposed to be on our side. I doubt he'd pull anything this annoying. Did you see how the captain was acting? He doesn't seem to care at all.

We're the ones being bothered by it.

True, but last time we met, they had not realized that there were passengers aboard the Crucible. As far as they knew, all passengers and crew had abandoned ship save for Captain Ganymede.

The captain is...rather odd, I must admit. [Won't remind Yukio that technically the captain is probably dead already.]

That's really messed up! How do you serve as a member of a ship's crew - let alone a commander - without knowing who's on it!?

The captain's not as odd as he is annoying! He's sitting around acting like nothing's happening while his hologram machine's going all kinds of crazy and driving me there right along with it!

I don't know about goddesses, but since we apparently lived together for some time and even if we hadn't I'm sure you must've noticed by now that humans need sleep. We need a lot of sleep, every day.

And being surrounded by constant noise and stuff that isn't actually there, especially when it won't stop repeating makes the chance of successfully getting that much sleep...

Equal to the likelihood that someone will be both deaf and blind at the same time, because as far as I can tell that's the only way to possibly ignore all of this!

It's highly unlikely!

[ Also known as: Yukio is cranky and needs a nap. ]

Because at the time that Commander Orion and his crew left, none of us were here. We all arrived after he and his people had left, he was very shocked and concerned when he found us on Eos.

At least the Captain is not trying to kill us this time.

I am rather fond of sleep, myself. Perhaps there is something you could cover your ears with until someone finds a way to stop this? If there was a way for me to do it, I would. It is rather painful to listen to. [Has sharper hearing than most, is thankfully not getting a headache from it, though.]

I believe there are a few places not affected by this. Would you like me to take you there so you can rest?

[ Oh Ammy, you didn't just go there. ]

The Captain was trying to kill everyone before!?

[...Oops.]

Ah, I think when I first arrived? [Ponders this, it was a long time ago for her.]

Mm, he cut off the air on the upper levels and worked down until only the Enviro-dome was left. Then something happened and none of us remembers what. I am fairly certain that it will not happen again.

That's not very reassuring.

No, but if anything happens we will find a way out of it.

Do you want to go somewhere quieter?

Yeah.

Even if I might not be able to sleep as well anymore after learning that little piece of the ship's history.

Yukio... [Ammy sighs, shaking her head.]

Want me to stay with you?

Hey, you can't really hold concerns about the Captain being a homicidal maniac against me. If I were you, I'd be more concerned if someone was totally fine with it - but you can still stay with me if you've got nowhere better to be and nothing better to do.

I've got a strange question that you might be able to answer while we're at it.

I just see no sense in worrying about it for now, there are more urgent things to be concerned about. [Like the noise.] The Captain usually shows signs of instability before he turns aggressive, so we should have at least some warning.

I'll stay with you for now, then. What's the question?

[ Tucking his pillow under his arm and heading toward the door, attempting to ignore any and all holograms that might be in his path; ]

I'll try not to think about it for now, but I can't really guarantee anything.

Anyway, my question. I figured you'd know this better than anyone else: How do you tell if something's demonic?

celestial_okami April 19 2009, 05:52:22 UTC
Maybe some cake will take your mind off things? [She grins, but it fades at his question. This is surprisingly hard, she's too used to being able to just know these things.]

I can tell by the smell, as they give off a putrid odor as of rotting meat, a foul disease, or old blood. But it is harder for humans since many demons disguise themselves. If it is a disguised demon, it is harder to say. But as they get their power from the humans they prey upon, they will often try to make a pact or offer whatever it is that their target desires. There is a serious danger in those bonds, as they are always stacked in the demon's favor, and only seem promising on the surface. Demons excel at offering something that seems invaluable in exchange for what they want, and quite often getting it.

Why do you ask?

Reply

faintbynumber April 19 2009, 16:28:55 UTC
It might.

Hnn...

The reason I asked is because I talked to a guy earlier who said that some people might think I'm a demon based on the way I look. I had never heard that before.
