feel_theburn. Set in the detective!au, but since these two don't seem to interact with anyone else in the verse - they're just on their own. This is an AU Michael Westen in which he is a slight sociopath and likes fucking with CONTROL.)
He smirked at the woman in front of him and moved forward to brush her hair behind her ear. She slid back against the wall and glared at him. His hand went out flat in the air, in a giving up sort of motion.
"What?"
"Don't fucking touch me," she said in a dry, even tone.
Michael frowned. "Aw, now you're taking away all my fun."
Agent 99 was most definitely backed into a corner. He'd fought her gun from her in a quick scuffle, after he had killed the other agent. She didn't plan on making any fast moves, because he was just as fast, if not faster than her. Max would likely tell her she had met her match. Her chin held high though. "I didn't realize this was supposed to be fun."
"Oh, it is." He nodded, a chuckle coming from his lips. He was grinning. "It's been a lot of fun, don't you think?" He moved closer to her, pressing her gun into her ribcage. "I've had fun, 99."
"And where does your fun go next?" She hissed. She and CONTROL had already followed the madman across several states and clear into Canada. Now he had pretty direct access to a cargo ship bound for China, and she was trying to keep him from getting on it.
"Out the door," he replied simply. The fight in keeping him on land had brought them to a small control booth by the docks.
"What?"
He nodded and stepped back. "You can go."
"I can.." her eyes narrowed. "No. Not without you locked up. Maybe executed before any government can fight over you."
He moved forward, before she could flinch, and grabbed the back of her hair. Then he slammed her into the wall. He wasn't smiling anymore. "I said it's time to go," he whispered, his voice light. Obviously insane.
"Then what was this? Your massacre. Leading us here."
"It was a test."
"A test?"
"Mmmhmm. I wanted to get an idea of your skills. Your work ethic. The things you'd risk. You know...being a woman, I wouldn't have taken you for ignoring the no man left behind rule. He was still alive when you took off after me, you know."
"Yes I know," she muttered into the wall. "It was stay and baby him or go after you before you killed anyone else. Doesn't take a genius."
He smirked. "Maybe not, but like I said...it was a test."
"Fuck you." She wriggled, trying to get the upper hand, but he just pulled her back and slammed her into the wall again. This time her face got a direct hit and it made her skull rattle in her head.
"Not likely," he said. He let go of her as her body started to slump to the floor, losing consciousness. He let her go and watched her fall, then knelt down beside her, leaning close to whisper in her ear. "If it's any consolation...you passed."
