[oldRP] Who Says You Can't Go Home?

Feb 24, 2009 17:19

(Catching up on posting old RPs. This in LoAP!later years. After Dean has gone to play hero and returned with Ben and Lisa, and after Beth has...gone to play with Amy. Co-written with jstliketherifle.)

It was late and she was tired. Everything seemed quiet as she let herself in the front door and closed it softly behind her. She sighed, breathing in that feeling that came with going "home". It was a great feeling. She moved down the hall and listened at Maddie's door. Everything was dark and quiet, so she peeked in and smiled at the sight of her daughter sleeping. Then she continued down the hall, knocking slight as she pushed the bedroom door open, not wanting to scare Dean.

"Honey, I'm home," she said softly.

Dean was stretched out on the bed, somewhere between sleep and awake. He knew that he should be sleeping, but he was still trying to figure out what they were going to do with Ben and Lisa. He knew that there wasn't much he could do to get Ben to stop resenting him, but Dean wanted to at least try -- though that might be easier said than done. When he heard Beth's voice, he didn't open his eyes, just let a slow smile stretch across his face. "Hey. How was your trip?"

She kicked out of her heels and moved to curl up at his side, not bothering to change her clothes. She closed her eyes and leaned into his warmth. "Mmm, it was work." Her hand moved up to softly brush his jaw. "How was Indiana?"

He sighed heavily as he slid his arms around her, curling up closer and settling in. "It was Indiana. I think I pissed her future ex-husband off."

"Mmm, imagine that," she murmured. She kissed his chin. "Did you play hero?"

"A little bit," he sighed, his head dipping slightly so that it was resting against her shoulder. "Ruby did most of the heroing. But the guy was a dick, he deserved to have his ass kicked."

"Good," she nodded, still awkward with the whole thing. She relaxed and lay against him quietly.

He was quiet for a moment, before tightening his arm against her waist and speaking softly. "He was beating her, Beth. Her and Ben -- in fact, the asshole nearly killed him. I couldn't just leave them there unprotected."

"I know. I get it, I just..." she sighed. "It's not about...I don't know. It's fine, Dean."

He pulled back to look at her, looking her in the eye as he spoke. "Is it?"

She looked back for a moment, then adverted her eyes to the ceiling. She'd been doing a lot of thinking that week, and it wasn't until she was on her way home that it really cleared up to her. But that only made her feel worse about her thoughts. She chewed her lip and sighed, before finally speaking quietly. "Why didn't we ever have more kids?"

Dean blinked for a moment, surprised at the question, before shrugging slightly. "I guess it just -- wasn't the right time."

She nodded. "Guess not."

Dean continued to watch her for a minute, trying to figure out what she was getting at, before moving one hand to rub the back of his neck. "Do you want more kids?" His tone didn't indicate that he was for or against the notion -- he was just curious as to why she was bringing it up.

"It's...not an issue." Her head tilted to him. "I'm too old to have another kid, now." She was embarrassed at the emotions it seemed to bring to her tear ducts.

"Well, I wouldn't say that," Dean said, pulling her closer. "I mean, if you wanted to, we could always adopt one." Dean had never been picky about blood when it came to family. The way he was raised and consistently taught him otherwise.

"Haven't you ever wondered what it'd be like to...do it again? Have each other around during the baby years? Maybe...a little boy.."

"Yeah," Dean said with a small smile. "I mean, I missed out on a lot when Maddie was little. It'd be nice to be around a little more."

"I guess...I always thought things would slow down and I could...bring it up. That we'd get around to it...and then Ben came into our lives and I realized that time was...kinda up. And..." she bit her lip. "And you got a son anyway."

"I missed a lot there, too. A lot I can't get back." Dean paused for a minute, before shifting, pushing himself up on his elbow so that he was looking at her more. "Look, I'm not saying having a little boy would make up for what I missed with Ben, but -- I wasn't aware that there was a rule that I could only have one boy and one girl. And I may have a son, but we don't. If you want to have another kid, Beth, I say we have another kid -- but after things calm down with Ben and Lisa. Maddie's pissed enough at me as it is."

"You can...say that? So easily? 'Let's have another kid'."

Dean gave her a look, before shifting so that he was resting on top of her. "Well -- are there any problems that I don't know about?"

"Like what?" She raised a brow.

"Well, financially speaking, we're pretty good, right? I mean -- is there some reason why we shouldn't?"

"As far as my uterus goes - yes. But...you're right. There are other options. I'm just...surprised you're with this."

Dean smiled slightly as he looked at her. "I like kids. I like having a family. It seems like a pretty good deal to me."

"So...give everything some time...then we'll...we'll consider adoption?"

"Yeah," Dean said with a nod. "Sounds good to me." He paused for a minute, before smirking back at her. "Though, even though it's not working, we can still do the baby making the fun way, right?"

She laughed, her arms circling his neck. "Baby...it works fine...just not as reliable to produce a healthy human being." She lifted her hips up against his teasingly. "Now, should we get you one of those little blue pills?" Her nails his his neck gently.

"Blasphemer," he gasped before leaning in to kiss her gently. "Do I need to prove that everything's still in working order?"

"Not at all," she laughed, her hands traveling down his hips. She tilted her head to kiss his jaw. "Mmm, ever mentioned how different you taste than Amy?" Yes, she loved teasing him.

He groaned. Loudly. "Don't do that," he murmured, his head dropping to kiss her neck.

"What?" She pouted. Her fingers brushed his stomach and moved down. "You don't like hearing about your wife kissing another woman? Touching her? Making her...cry out?"

His teeth sunk into her neck slightly at the last part, his hips pushing into her hands. "You're trying to kill me, aren't you?"

"No," she murmured. "Just giving you something good to think about."

"Uh-huh," he sighed, his hands moving over her shirt to try and get it off her.

She moaned at his touch, pushing her shirt over her head and pressing herself up against him. Didn't matter how much fun she had with Amy. No one could touch her like her husband.

His lips continued to move down her neck and chest, taking his time and just savoring her slowly. "God, I missed you."

"Me too," she gasped, her body moving with his mouth.

He made quick work of the rest of their clothes, before pressing himself in as close as possible, trying to have as much contact with her as he could.

She pulled him close after and pressed kisses along his face slowly. "If we had been more normal...I would have given you as many kids as you wanted."

He smiled at her softly, before pulling him in closer. "Sweetheart, I wouldn't have traded our not normal for the world."

"Me either," she smiled, curling up close.
