No, I usually don't but in. I don't want to be "rude" or "out of line". But I've heard this out of you enough times that I think you need a good talking to. You're obviously very depressed for any number of reasons, and as a coping mechanism you withdraw from other people with the rationalization that you're being socially responsible by "not being a burden" if you go off brooding by yourself, feeling like there's nothing you can do. You're not helping anyone by doing that, least of all you, and if anything you're keeping people from knowing your true potential as a person by hiding it, locking it away, bottling it all up. If there's no friend you feel comfortable turning to, seek professional help. No, I'm not trying to be funny. Counseling services are available on college campuses for a reason. Yeah, it can be kind of awkward and uncomfortable, especially for someone who's never experienced something like counseling. Counselors on college campuses aren't like child/adolescent psychologists; they treat you like the adult that you are (neurologically), but as a result you have to want to get better; it's not a matter of giving someone else peace of mind. It's not about what you owe to other people. It's about what you owe to yourself. Disrespecting yourself does nothing, and very few people will stick around someone who can't see their own self-worth. The answer doesn't lie outside; it lies within, and maybe you just need some help exploring all those complicated inner workings. It's not easy. But it's very important.
There, I said it. I've dealt with mental illness, anxiety, depression, longer than I care to think about. I'm still sorting through it, for that matter. It can be a long, difficult process, but the sooner it's addressed, the easier it can be. I got sick of waiting for people to take pity on me. They won't. I got sick of not liking myself. I got sick of being unhappy. People genuinely want to like you and want to know you better, but they can't reach you. They don't know how. I'm not saying that everyone will like you or that everyone is a good person. But the world only gets drearier with each passing day that you paint that dark, gray, bleak picture in your mind.
Your opportunities for self-exploration and personal growth are waiting. ^_^
