So, you have this anti-PETA banner in your userinfo (quite understandable.) And, with the communities you join, it seems quite obvious that you object to anything and everything animal rights.

But my question is, do you object because of what PETA says/does, or because of your own morals.

As an animal rights activist that isn't a whacko, I'm just asking to please not judge all of us by PETA's actions. It is indeed a shame that PETA brings our movement such horrid publicity. But don't make up your mind on the issue solely based on PETA.

However, if you have made up your mind on the issue due to your own personal beliefs, then just disregard this inquiry. I was just curious as to your reasoning behind feeling the way you do. I mean, you seem awfully intelligent with your very liberal views and almost everything you believe, I agree with. I just don't understand how someone who seems so intelligent can take such an ignorant view on the suffering of animals.

I have four cats and a dog, pets are extremely beneficial for the humans and the pets, I dont believe that spaying and neutering is a bad thing, in fact we have to do it in order to save more lives in the long run, every animal Ive ever had has come from a shelter or a rescue just because I feel it's better to get them from there than a pet shop.
Now I have every faith in the fact that many people are capable of living very healthy lives on a vegetarian diet (Im a little more skeptical of veganism just because it's so involved-but I know it's possible). I also know it can be a lot of work, supplements and vitamins and other things can be pricey as well, I dont recommend it for your avergae 16 year old.
My main problem with people who are vegan and even vegetarian, is the ones who are so superior about it, veganism does not work for everyone- it just doesn't. As much as you get "hug a tree" I get "murderer ( ... )

Hahaha, I'll finally come out and be unanonymous. Sorry about that, but I just wasn't sure how you'd react to my first comment and I didn't feel like sparking some huge internet war thing. I'm so sick of e-drama, you know?

I see you have good reasoning behind your views (as do I; yay, we both win) so there's not much point debating further. But just to note: I don't rely on supplements and vitamins. There's really no need to. Sometimes I take them just to be on the safe side (as do people who eat meat) but it's not a necessity for an animal-free diet. And yeah, I do doubt the average 16 year old would stay healthy as a vegan, but it's also a matter of education and parents. I know if I had been vegan when I was 16, I would've been royally fucked. My parents had a hard enough time with me being a vegetarian. Veganism is an entirely different universe.

And I completely agree about disliking superior vegans. (Or, as I prefer to call them, people who are more-vegan-than-thou.) I mean, what's the point? I've known so many vegans who get ( ... )

ahhh e-drama, it can be fun to watch, but I prefer my journal to be mostly drama-free. I leave anon comments open, and just ban people when they get out of hand, hasnt happened much, tho.
And yay to us both winning, I hate it when people can't face the fact that no matter how much you argue you still might not change someone's mind. It's good when everyone wins...
Ha "more-vegan-than-thou", Ill have to use that.
I understand both sides of the animal testing dept, I have no problem with people who disagree with animal testing, I do, however have a problem with people who bomb labs and do that sort of thing...
Which brings me back: PeTA's dumb.
