what kind of number is that for a quarterback?

I am currently having an intense love-hate relationship with Hawaii 5-0.

LOVE: ALL OF THE CHARACTERS OMG <3 / Danny is such a good dad! / Grace Parks with the actual acting. You've come so far since early BSG, bb. / Hot people taking off their clothes on little to no provocation (I'm not sure why you're shirtless in this scene, Steve, but I'm certainly not complaining!) / BANTER. TEAM DYNAMICS FTW! / Their totally ridiculous plans (I know - we'll strap him to the hood of the car until he talks!) / The way that every episode looks like the Hawaii tourism board is playing them ALL OF THE MONEY. Good lord.

HATE: Every time I think about it or see it mentioned, I GET THE THEME SONG STUCK IN MY HEAD FOR HOURS. IT IS REALLY ANNOYING, OKAY?! / I have read ALL THE FIC and have been reduced to proverbially shaking the internet upside down in the hopes that more will fall out :(

Speaking of fic, here are three stories that made me go *__*

1) Make a Move ('Cause I Ain't Got All Night) by stillane - I blame this fic for everything. Prior to reading it, I was entertained but not fannish, now I am all WHY IS THERE NOT MORE FIC WITH PERFECT BANTER AND CHARACTERIZATIONS?! Anyway. In this fic, Steve meets Danny's parents. It is exactly as entertaining as one would expect from that scenario. Also, it ends with pancakes, which as far as I'm concerned is the ultimate in happily-ever-after.

Steve shows up to work a month later looking almost like a professional. Danny is hesitant to say a professional what, given that the undone shirt buttons and dark suit are more Come, Sex Me Now than Law Enforcement Officer, but there is a shirt with buttons, and more than 50% of them are closed. This is unparalleled in the history of the Steve McGarrett workday wardrobe.

2) Four Times Nobody Noticed It Was a Date, and One Time There Wasn't Any Doubt by topaz119 (Link goes to part 1). This fic goes from awesome to awesome-r with stops along the way at fantastic, HOTT, and hilarious. It hits all the stuff I love about the show - great team dynamic, great Grace, Steve's sister, BANTER - and tops it all off with great Steve/Danny.

"All right, look," Danny finally says. "I'll talk. You answer. We can keep it simple: yes or no, or, you know, the occasional grunt."

3) Tell You What (you're gonna do) by giddygeek. Danny and Steve jump off a cliff, then cross a line. Again, with the BANTER and also the HOTNESS. It's crazy how much this fandom makes me want to CAPSLOCK and gesticulate wildly like Danny <3

"You know," he says, "this morning I woke up, and I got dressed--"

"How many ties did you try on before you found the right one?" Steve asks him, serious, deadpan, eyes gleaming.

"I tried on two ties. I did not pick the good one, because it's Tuesday, and I know how you are on Tuesdays--"

Steve tilts his head, looks interested. "How am I on Tuesdays?"

"Bored," Danny says. "You're bored on Tuesdays. It's not the weekend, it's not Monday, it's not halfway through the week, it's not Friday eve; you're always bored. You look for trouble. You find trouble. On Tuesdays, you are a menace. So I put on the second-best tie and headed for the office--"

"I liked that tie, actually," Steve says. "It made your eyes look nice."

And now I will go back to stalking the h50 tag on delicious. Because that is a productive use of my Sunday evening.
