Apr 19, 2011 05:29

Body and Appearance
1. Describe the character's height and build. Is he heavyset, thin, short, rangy?
Italy's a little on the short side, at least, in comparison to many of the male nations. He's a bit on the lean side, but with some chub. However, he runs to Germany a lot from Rome/Venice, and spends a lot of time with Germany in general, despite how much he eats.

2. How old is he?
20 in human years. He's lived over a thousand years, however.

3. Describe his posture. Does he carry himself well or does he slouch?
He's a bit slouchy! But he's always looking on the bright side of life, so he also carries himself well. Depends on what's going on.

4. How is his health? Is he fit or out of shape? Any illnesses or conditions? Any physical disabilities?
He's a little chubby, not fit, but not out of shape, either. But he's not too fit for exercise, as he tires easily, and he's especially prone to becoming short of breath, unless he has good motivation.

5. How does he move? Is he clumsy, graceful, tense, fluid?
He sort of. Floats at times. So fluid sometimes, clumsy others.

6. How attractive is this character physically? How does he perceive himself in the mirror?
He likes what he sees in the mirror. He thinks he's pretty good looking, and very cute, He is, in fact, pretty cute. Women pay attention to him. And some men.

7. Describe his complexion. Dark, light, clear, scarred?
Tan, but not as much so as his brother. Few scars.

8. Describe his hair: color, texture, style.
It's brown, a little reddish, too, but not too dark. His hair is short and he has fairly neat bangs, also. His hair's also rather curly, especially the curl on the right side of his head that won't go down very easily. It's his erogenous zone, too.

9. What color are his eyes?
Amber

10. Does the character have any other noteworthy features?
His eyes are rather narrow. In fact, as far as he's concerned, they're closed much of the time. His curl can sort of move independently, from bouncing, to squiggling up, to curling further, to turning into a heart. There's no way to tell just by looking, but his nipples are Corsica and Nice and Savoy respectively.(Nice and Savoy are one nipple.)

11. What are his chief tension centers?
When he's tense or scared, he starts to get tense in his legs most. Run his instincts say. Something is wrong and we should run. He has to move around a fair amount to make the tension lessen.

12. What is the character's wardrobe like? Casual, dressy, utilitarian? Bright colors, pastels, neutrals? Is it varied, or does he have six of the same suit?
Whatever's in style! However, he often wears smart casual clothes. He wears whatever color is appealing at the time. He also has his uniforms, especially his sailor uniform he wears fairly often as well. His clothes are varied, but he also has several of the same outfit. Although he often forgets them, especially his pants. . . . Sometimes, if he forgets his clothes, Germany will lend him his.

13. Do his clothes fit well? Does he seem comfortable in them?
Yep! Especially when he's not wearing them! When he's wearing Germany's clothes they're much too big, however.

14. Does he dress the same on the job as he does in his free time? If not, what are the differences?
Yes and no. Sometimes he has to wear a uniform, for police, for example. It depends on the job, as he has several. He also wears suits, at times, to things like world meetings.

15. You knew it was coming: Boxers, briefs or commando?
Boxers or commando.

Speech
1. What does this character's voice sound like? High-pitched, deep, hoarse?
A little on the high side, as well as a little nasal. He's got a bit of a thick Italian accent, but not so thick as to be unable to be understood. He says "ve" a lot, and also throws Italian into his speech at times. He often speaks alternating between the three personal narratives, speaking to people as if they're not there or he weren't talking to them, but someone else(eg: while speaking to Germany "Germany and I should have dinner!")

2. How does he normally speak? Loud, soft, fast, evenly? Does he talk easily, or does he hesitate?
He speaks easily, most of the time, if he's not scared. He's a loud and fast talker. Lots of gesturing, too.

3. Does the character have a distinct accent or dialect? Any individual quirks of pronunciation? Any, like, you know, verbal tics?
"Ve" is his verbal tic. He also sometimes says "be". Both are short forms/altered forms of "bene" meaning "good" but he simply uses it whenever it feels right(although it's supposed to be used as "well" at the beginning of a sentence?). If he's happy, sleepy, excited, scared. . .it's often used for emphasis. His accent is Italian, specifically mostly Venetian(if there's a specific accent for Venice.)

4. What language/s does he speak, and with how much fluency?
Italian--native
Latin--native
English--Pretty well. He sometimes forgets words or how to pronounce them
German--Not as well as English, but above average for someone learning?
French--pretty well.
Japanese--About as well as he speaks German, probably worse.
Polish--pretty well
Russian--Just a bit.

5. Does he switch languages or dialects in certain situations?
He sometimes speaks in Italian, especially if talking to other Italians. He sometimes speaks German if speaking to Germany or a German-speaker. Otherwise, he primarily speaks English on the meme, and Italian at home. If he's really scared or excited he may babble in Italian since it takes some work to figure out what to say in English.

6. Is he a good impromptu speaker, or does he have to think about his words?
He's a good impromptu speaker, most of the time. He's not much of a thinker.

7. Is he eloquent or inarticulate? Under what circumstances might this change?
He's somewhere in the middle? He does everything better if women or a good reason are involved, so he might speak more clearly if he has a good cause involved.

Mental and Emotional
1. How intelligent is this character? Is he book-smart or street-smart?
More street-smart, but definitely not the smartest, unless he really needs/wants to be or, again, has good reason. He can barely tie his own shoes.

2. Does he think on his feet, or does he need time to deliberate?
Thinks on his feet, if he ever thinks about things!

3. Describe the character's thought process. Is he more logical, or more intuitive? Idealistic or practical?
Intuitive and practical? He thinks more about how something could effect him, when he thinks about things, and sometimes how it could effect others in the situation. But he never really thinks too far.

4. What kind of education has the character had?
He's lived over 1000 years, through war and takeover and all sorts of things. He's learned things along the way, in various forms. His most formal means of education was probably when Rome took him away to teach him things, like to be artistic.

5. What are his areas of expertise? What, if anything, is he interested in learning more about?
He's good at flirting, cooking, playing guitar, singing, and most arts. He's not as good at dancing as his brother, however. He's also pretty good at talking, staying happy, and making people happy. He'd like to learn how to make people even happier, and make the world a happier place, and seeing the beauty in everything, something he can also do pretty well, but he doesn’t think so.
He'd probably be pretty good in bed, as well, but he's only done it once, so who knows? He's also a good gentleman, when it comes to women. Oh, and he's fashion smart, and can make clothes very well! Also cars.

6. Is he an introvert or an extrovert?
Extrovert!

7. Describe the character's temperament. Is he even-tempered or does he have mood swings? Cheerful or melancholy? Laid-back or driven?
Cheerful and laid-back! Even-tempered, but he's cowardly, and may suddenly turn on you if it means he can get out of a scary situation.

8. How does he respond to new people or situations? Is he suspicious, relaxed, timid, enthusiastic?
Relaxed and enthusiastic. He loves meeting new people. How he reacts to situations depends on the situation, however. Who's around, how safe it is, if there are women and good food and if he has to fight, etc.

9. Is he more likely to act, or to react?
React. Unless running counts as an action.

10. Which is his default: fight or flight?
Flight!

11. Describe the character's sense of humor. Does he appreciate jokes? Puns? Gallows humor? Bathroom humor? Pranks?
He's got a pretty good sense of humor, until someone gets hurt or upset. However, he's very gullible, and might be a bit more easy to upset if the joke's on him. It depends a lot on what the joke is. He was there for a lot of things, and might not find them so funny, despite living a rather "keep calm and carry on" life. He doesn't like to brood over things forever, however, so he'd probably laugh at many jokes as long as they aren't too insensitive. Italian humor tends to be self-depreciating as well, however he still may not appreciate marjorly depreciating jokes.

12. Does the character have any diagnosable mental disorders? If yes, how does he deal with them?
Possibly ADHD. Some people say mental retardation, but I think not. It's a tiny bit possible he could have dependency. But he can function independently just fine, he just prefers the company and help of others.
He just lives life happily. There's no point in stressing over things. And they're less mental disorders and more just parts of his personality. He's not the smartest, he's a bit excitable and childish, he's a little clingy, he's got a bit of a short attention span, too.

13. What moments in this character's life have defined him as a person?
Being taken to live with Rome; befriending Germany; becoming independant/unified. . .Holy Roman Empire leaving and learning he'd never come back. Lots of historical moments, especially, especially the Renaissance! And he's had plenty of personal experiences, too.
Oh, by the way, BERLUSCONI RESIGNED. /November 12th 2011
Not really life-defining but MAN IT FEELS GOOD.

14. What does he fear?
Everything His friends getting hurt, him getting hurt, being really unsure or confused, to an extent, betrayal, disappearances, English food, fighting, wars, his debt, perhaps being alone. Being split from his brother, a bad sense of fashion, Fascism(or perhaps it just makes him angry/uncomfortable), Northern League(also might just make him angry/uncomfortable) God. . . .

15. What are his hopes or aspirations?
A better economy and state overall, a forever united Italy, a united Europe?, a happy world, no more war, never having to fight, good food and happy people everywhere. . . .

16. What is something he doesn't want anyone to find out about him?
He's pretty open about himself.

Relationships
1. Describe this character's relationship with his parents.
No parents. Just Grandpa Rome. Whom he loves, adores, and admires. He wishes he could be so strong, and yet, being that strong means a lot of fighting. . . .

2. Does the character have any siblings? What is/was their relationship like?
South Italy is his older brother. He doesn't really get along with him, and yet he adores him endlessly, since they're unified and brothers. However, he's not very good at pointing out good in Romano. In fact, he finds Romano overbearing and to be a bit of a bully and mean and lazy(if he were to be less lazy, he would put some more effort forth, too, but Romano thought the same about him. . . .) And yet, he can see the good, even if it's hidden and far away. But they really don't get along so well, unification aside.
Seborga is his younger brother, and a micronation that's actually a town in his house. They get along pretty well, better than he does with Romano. He likes him and finds him to be similar to himself. So they hang out a fair amount and are friendly with one another.

3. Are there other blood relatives to whom he is close? Are there ones he can't stand?
Not blood relatives, no. He can stand everyone, though, because he's pretty friendly, forgiving, and happy. He'd rather be friends than enemies.

4. Are there other, unrelated people whom he considers part of his family? What are his relationships with them?
France is his "big brother". They have a bit of a tense relationship, but it's also a pretty good one. He looks up to him! However, they have their problems with one another, especially since France won't give back his paintings.
Spain is also a "big brother". He and Feliciano get along great. There don't really seem to be any problems between the two of them, however when he talked about his dream of having the two Italies under him, together, Italy seemed to have his ability to sense the situation activated, as that scared him since he could clearly see less than pure intentions beneath them, and was afraid. Besides that, he looks up to him, also.

5. Who is/was the character's best friend? How did they meet?
Germany is his best friend! They met in World War One, when Italy was trying to hide from fighting and Germany. He then became his prisoner, which made him happy, since he got to eat and avoid fighting and relax. He took care of him, even when they were enemies, which he appreciated, even if it was a somewhat mandatory caring for. Then he worked in his house during the Great Depression. Finally, they became allies and formed the Axis Powers during WWII. Best friendship begins there, as neither of them ever really had a friend before(siblings not counted, nor nations Italy met while under the care of under countries.)

6. Does he have other close friends?
Poland and Japan! Russia is also a bit of a close friend, as scary as he is. He considers everyone his friend, although some people he's closer to than others.

7. Does he make friends easily, or does he have trouble getting along with people?
He makes friends very easily.

8. Which does he consider more important: family or friends?
Family, believe it or not. He is Italy, after all.

9. Is the character single, married, divorced, widowed? Has he been married more than once?
Taken.

10. Is he currently in a romantic relationship with someone other than a spouse?
Yes. He's dating Germany as of May 26.

11. Who was his first crush? Who is his latest?
Holy Roman Empire.
Germany?

12. What does he look for in a romantic partner?
"a gentle and cute girl! And if she's motherly, bravo!" -Italy, Post-Release Interview

13. Does the character have children? Grandchildren? If yes, how does he relate to them? If no, does he want any?
He doesn’t have any children. He probably wouldn't mind having any, though! He likes kids(when they aren't attacking him with yo-yo!)

14. Does he have any rivals or enemies?
Nope!

15. What is the character's sexual orientation? Where does he fall on the Kinsey scale?
He thinks he's straight. However, he's actually bisexual. To his knowledge, he's a 1. He's actually a 3. He's starting to realize this.

16. How does he feel about sex? How important is it to him?
Sex is an amazing thing that you do with people whom you really love. Traditionally he wouldn't want sex until marriage, but because marriage is a bit complicated for nations and, while he could marry a human, it'd probably be even more complicated and controversial, he simply considers it okay with someone you love/crush on. Of course, it's okay with people you just want to do it with, too, but it's not as good(not that he'd know, he's only had sex once, with a crush.)

17. What are his turn-ons? Turn-offs? Weird bedroom habits?
He thinks he'd be turned off by anything excessively kinky. Anything he'd find in Germany's collection he'd call "scary" and consider a turn-off. Really, he doesn’t have any in particular. His turn-ons are whatever are the turn-ons of his partner, as his biggest turn-on and goal in bed is to please. He doesn't know what he's into, yet, so when he gets out more sexually, check back for an update. (I know, but I don't know how to phrase it without him being sexually active, as it sounds weird when I try and type "he'd like to" in regards to sexual things he isn't aware he'd enjoy.)

Beliefs
1. Do you know your character's astrological (zodiac of choice) sign? How well does he fit type?
He's a Pisces. Or we consider him one, since his "birthday"(the day of the unification of Italy) is March 17th. He's not shy, he's romantic, he's sometimes trustworthy, he'd definitely not aloof, he'd a bit dreamy, he's creative, he can be understanding, he's sometimes unrealistic, and he can also be impractical. However the typical likes and dislikes of a Pisces only fit him so much as well.

2. Is this character religious, spiritual, both, or neither? How important are these elements in his life?
Religious. He's Roman Catholic. It's pretty important to him but, at the same time, he's not so connected to it anymore. He still is, but not all of the traditional beliefs still stand within him. He believes, and fears God, however, and prays, and things like that.

3. Does this character have a personal code of morals or ethics? If so, how did that begin? What would it take to compromise it?
Not particularly. . . ?

4. How does he regard beliefs that differ from his? Is he tolerant, intolerant, curious, indifferent?
He's tolerant of them! A little curious, as well.

5. What prejudices does he hold? Are they irrational or does he have a good reason for them?
He holds most people of a country to a stereotype, as he knows the countries themselves. However, his accepting and friendly and forgiving nature makes him less prejudice than he could be?

Daily Life
1. What is the character's financial situation? Is he rich, poor, comfortable, in debt?
SO MUCH DEBT SOB. But they're working on it--he's a trusting soul and believes in that everything can work out. So, comfortable, but in debt. Better off than a lot of people/nations and better off than his brother. . . . (Southern Italy's GDP is apparently almost half of that of both Northern and Central.)

2. What is his social status? Has this changed over time, and if so, how has the change affected him?
He's the whole(rather, northern half, but he seems to take responsibility for many of the affairs of the country as a whole and is referred to as Italy as opposed to North Italy, by most) country. It hasn't really changed, unless you count the times he was the territory/maid/part/whatever of another country. He's stayed cheerful throughout hi escelating to independence. However, somehow he got weaker as he grew. . . .

3. Where does he live? House, apartment, trailer? Is his home his castle or just a place to crash? What condition is it in? Does he share it with others?
House. He actually has two houses, one in Rome(shared with Romano) and one in Venice(just for him.) His home is his castle. It's not the cleanest, but it's tidy enough that you wouldn't get hurt walking around and he can find things--organized mess.

4. Besides the basic necessities, what does he spend his money on?
Paint, canvases, art supplies, clothes, supplies for varying activities, taking care of BastardinoRomacat and Gino, guitar strings, guitar pics, video games, dates with girls, sometimes manga or anime if Japan doesn't just let him borrow it.

5. What does he do for a living? Is he good at it? Does he enjoy it, or would he rather be doing something else?
He's the country! However, he sometimes works in/runs a restaurant/cafe, and he's also an artist and musician! And he loves all of his jobs! Except when there's war and he has to fight. . . .

6. What are his interests or hobbies? How does he spend his free time?
He sleeps, eats, cooks, paints, sculpts, sings, is generally artistic/culinary, spends time with his friends, plays guitar, meets people, goes on walks, buys or makes clothes, reads anime or manga, admires cars, and is generally free-spirited. Oh, and he goes to the meme. Always an adventure.

7. What are his eating habits? Does he skip meals, eat out, drink alcohol, avoid certain foods?
Never eat English food. Ever. He often makes his own food, he drinks wine and sometimes other things, too, but he tries to avoid skipping meals. He says you should "eat delicious things deliciously" and not worry about things like your health in the process and simply enjoy food, as stressing like that won't make you any more healthy.

Associations
Which of the following do you associate with the character, or which is his favorite:

1. Color? His favorite is green, white, and red, or blue. Or yellow--not too bright of one, but not a dull, mucky one, either. Brighter, happier colors.
2. Smell? He likes the smell of things cooking best, as well as daisies! Pasta or pizza cooking reminds me of Italy.
3. Time of day? He likes noon or 3 PM. The warmest and most relaxed time of day, and time for a siesta!
4. Season? Spring
5. Book? I'll look into this one.
6. Music? He likes when Austria plays piano, most songs that come from his house, but he especially likes classics, romantic songs, and anything he can dance to.
7. Place? Italy, duh. And he also likes going to Germany's house, and France's.
8. Substance? Water. Boiled water. Or flour. . . .
9. Plant? Daisies! Wheat! Trees for napping under!
10. Animal? Cats! He also rather likes wolves--they are his national animal, after all.

END
{{ Get the HTML here so you can do it yourself. }}

And that's it. o3o I'll probably update it with stuff, but I mostly listed canon things and only a few meme things. For example, he also shares his house with a colony of eyes.gif! I'll add things if they're asked of me, especially if I left things out!
