100 Things You Should Give a Chance: Warrior Dash

May 13, 2012 18:47

The Warrior Dash is 3.1 miles through mud and obstacles. It's insane, it's fun, it's challenging, and it's just an awesome experience. Honestly, it doesn't matter what kind of shape you're in - you can do this. It's not something crazy like the Spartan Sprint or the Tough Mudder, and most people can get through 3 miles, even if they don't think they can, or if they don't run regularly.

The obstacles vary from course to course, but last year I remember climbing a couple of walls (with the aid of ropes and/or cargo nets), crawling under barbed wire, climbing through a rope spider web, jumping over fire, and wading through a stream that was about waist-deep. The mud was actually so ridiculous (it had rained for 3 days before the race) that they had to close down one of the obstacles.

Costumes are a big thing, and your time, unless you're an elite athlete really concerned with times/winning/etc, is not important. It took Jen and I over an hour to do 3 miles last year and we so didn't care. Fun was the only thing that mattered. There's also live music, beer, and turkey legs. Seriously, what more could you want??

I'm doing 2 of these this year, and I seriously suggest you guys check it out.

(I tried to post a pic of me and Jen doing the race, but LJ is being mean)
