More Failed Bard

Written last night while trying to fall asleep watching Ruin Explorers. It's not named yet, and might not get one.

Another adventure begins in a bar
To quest for treasure in lands so far
Assembled there a group of eight
Our purpose to find the silver gate
Lost in desert in times forgotten
In a war all things fought in
Legends tell of an ancient power
Locked away in an unusual tower
That rose high into the ground
Where echoes fell without a sound
Not to return until it's entered
Breached by words silently censored
The guards within now centuries dead
Await the dawns breaking bread
And with it the breath of life
To all from the ancient strife
To begin their hateful fight anew
For that is all they can do
Until that power is removed
In a circle time will be moved
Until one day when they are dust
Their weapons useless piles of rust
The world around them scorched and scarred
All living things impossibly charred
By that ancient malevolent power
That we go to find this very hour
But that is the way of the heroic
The brave the bold the ridiculously stoic
We go to find what is better lost
Heedless to its terrible cost
For nothing can stop seven men so fine
Except the poison in their wine
Because I've done what is right
The world may see another night
I'd say I'm not evil if I could
But in this case, I'm not good.
