When he stayed overnight at the Tower, Jaime would wake some nights to find a strange bundle of warmth in his bed. He’d reach out a tentative hand and run his thumb over the cheek of the other lying next to him. The body would be curled up into him, as if trying to crawl under his skin. Sometimes he would wake to find wide, blue eyes staring at him in the darkness. The fear and pain in those eyes always shocked him. And the desperation that would seep through the other’s fingers as it clutched tightly at Jaime’s shirt always broke his heart a little. Jaime always did the same thing whenever he found the other in his bed. He would press a gentle kiss to its temple, its eyelids and the pulse point in its throat. Then he’d tangle his hand in its hair and fall back to sleep.
Robin was always gone when he woke in the morning
