[OOC] Headcanon post
So, I feel I'm due for one of these! Because. Antique Bakery (Anime/Drama/Manga) has no bearing on how I play Sun-woo. Mostly since I'm too lazy to get into them (and the Korean movie is infinitely better, guys. Infinitely so)
Timeliiiiiiine
Okay, so around the age of fourteen or fifteen, Sun-woo discovered he was gay! I think (and from what extreme little I have to work with) he sort of fell in love with one of his father's business associates/friends, aka someone he got to see very frequently and probably interacted with a lot rather than just a passing "omghe'ssohotandnice". I would go so far and say that Sun-woo really confided with him since (headcanon!) I don't think he got along very well with his family or he and his folks just didn't see eye to eye and generally kept out of each other's way.
ANYWAY.
Cue his mother sleeping with the man he was totally in love with! Sun-woo tells us that he hated her for sleeping with the man he loved... and then he realized what he was saying and he then hated himself even more for being so disgusting. That's when he starts seeing himself, his sexuality and his existence as something purely negative and unable to function within society. We're never shown how exactly he acts after his revelation, but it's definitely an attitude he stil habours post-movie. Basically, he cannot see himself as "good" or even "normal" because of the way he thought about his mother, his family and love.

MOVING ON, Sun-woo meets Jin Hyuk! Well, not really MEET per se, but he overhears Jin-Hyuk telling people off about the way they talk about Sun-woo! And Sun-woo goes a bit dokidoki in his heart because... it's a first! No one has ever said he means something or even CARED about him! (sob so deprived) S-So he had a very hard-core crush on Jin-hyuk and confessed to him on their graduation day! Sadly, this did not go well at all since that was the same day Jin-hyuk got rejected by his long-standing girlfriend and basically shot Sun-woo down. Badly. To the point Sun-woo was ready to do suicide after he got himself wasted in a club! (I should add that Jin-hyuk's rejection pretty much turned Sun-woo back on his head again. The little good, help Jin-hyuk did earlier that meant so much to Sun-woo? GONE. He was back to square one mom issues).
BUT WAIT. HE DOESN'T DIE!!
He receives the "demonic" gay charm in the gay bar he visits and then gets laid. I'm not too sure what happens AFTER THAT since he leaves the guy he slept with on that night and that same guy spent... three years crying over it. But I assume he just wandered from one profession to another, not really caring if he got laid/fired etc etc. And somewhere along the line, he met Jean-Baptiste.

Jean-Baptiste really thought Sun-woo had talent and took him under his wing. They went to Paris and lived together. Jean-Baptiste taught him everything he knew and they were lovers for three years. GUYS I CANNOT STRESS THE THREE YEARS BIT. Considering Sun-woo's terrible levels of low self-esteem and his belief that he really doesn't deserve anything good in his life? This is a big thing. I pretty much believe they had a very, very comfortable relationship. I wouldn't call it deep or co-dependent, but they could easily deal with each other's moods and issues and yet not get into too deep. So life was good and there was gay sex! So why did Sun-woo leave?
Again, from the movie perspective, Jean-Baptiste is a BIG SHOT patisierre. He's featured EVERYWHERE, cooking channels, books, etc etc, the man gets around! And I think, the point at where his career got so big was when Sun-woo left him! Because Sun-woo, of all people, is aware of public image and how damaging it would be for Jean Baptiste to have a gay lover, so he just packed up and left! I don't think he even TOLD the guy (...the most I see him is... leaving a letter?) and went back to Korea to try again at being normal.
And he found Jin-hyuk.
