Fail Fandom Anon Official Move Announcement

On July 5, 2014 Fail Fandom Anon will officially move to Dreamwidth. For the last four years the meme has found a welcoming home on LiveJournal. Due to the increasing extended technical outages of LiveJournal service and the unreliability of the LiveJournal platform we will be moving by choice -- before a LJ collapse forces a sudden relocation.

I have nothing to add to your comment but for the sake of accuracy, I think the header was a reference to the thread below about SFWA. I've never seen the mods mock anyone's preference for dw or lj.

Yes, it was a reference to that thread. Several nonnies requested for it to be made the next post header because they liked that line; it has nothing whatsoever to do with the move announcements.

Yep, that's it. Meme saw that thread and said "This HAS to be a post title," and so it is.

We've spent the past several days trying to make sure we aren't being dicks to nonnies who prefer to stay on LJ. We'd have vastly preferred it ourselves, had the tech issues not reached the point where we felt our hand was forced.

I've been in fandom here since 2006. I don't plan to leave LJ as my primary fannish space, since my fandom is basically nonexistent on DW and on Tumblr there's no fic happening. It's only for meme's purposes that LJ has become increasingly frustrating for an increasing number of users.

TBH, I don't think it was the mods' endgame at all. If you look at the traffic between both memes after LJ was fixed, it was fairly obvious that most anons had moved well before the mods made the official announcement.

Anyway, I'm sorry you're not feeling fannish anymore. I went through a period of a few years where I lost touch with fandom myself, and even though it was probably better for my mental health at the time, I still missed it. Good luck on whatever new endeavor you partake in, nonnie!

Thank you nonnie, I hope things are better for you now, both mentally and generally. Work is pretty all-consuming for me these days so limiting my online distractions to 10 minutes here and there on RoyalGames is a sensible decision. Good luck with all things fandom wherever you participate!

You're welcome. It's still not working on the main lj header (I believe there's an extra space after html at the end?) Haven't looked on dw.

Sorry, couldn't think how to explain it better, should have said 'link in the red box text' or something. I was thinking about people who've been away from meme on lj or only checking sporadically and/or using dw: I had one friend last week ask me if the (lj) meme had been deleted as she hadn't been able to load it, so I imagine there will be others. I envisaged returners seeing the red-text content first, trying the lj link to the move thread here and landing on a Frank page, then simply assuming that lj itself is so fucked up now, the only workable place to go for discussion of the decision would be dw, where all the relevant links all worked first time.

I'm the nonnie that fourthed the suggestion for maximum flounce velocity as post title because thinking of old misogynistic white men getting the hell out of SFWA made me HAPPY. :-/

I didn't even realize it could be interpreted as commentary on the LJ vs. DW issue. I'm sorry for any misunderstandings that resulted from this.

It is very much not your fault, nonny. OP is being butthurt and unreasonable, which is why they misinterpreted the post title and also why we've also been given a whole flouncumentary on their life, site preferences and fandom history.
