There's a new critter who's just moved into the compound. Please ignore him if he attempts to bum a cigarette from you. He's trying to quit, and the second-hand smoke aggravates Ginger's asthma something fierce. Please don't enable his bad habits!*

*He knows where the smoking section is. He's just not willing to pass the Kraken to get to it.

So how many people does Friday the 18th work for, to throw out a date?

Friday 18th *should* work after normal work hours (5:30 and after)

Sounds great! And Argo Tea, Union Square, as we said last post?

But what time?

5:30 or 6 (or anytime later!) would be best for me (I'm the nonny who said I was free after work)

Sounds good.

But I have another question about meet-ups (in general). I've been to several fandom-related meetups, but none from anon memes. How will I know who to look for if I don't have anyone's contact info?

Last time I brought a book, I could do that again.

How about a Doctor Who novelization? It seems fandom-relevant, and it's pretty distinctive. looks like this: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/3/3b/Doctor_Who_and_the_Day_of_the_Daleks.jpg

Just look for that on the table, and you'll know you're in the right place.

Yeah, I can wear Steve Rogers' dog tags. And I'll let you all know what I'm wearing earlier in the day.

Question: How do writers on meme handle outing/not outing themselves at meetups? I'm a newbie to meetups and I'd love to meet you all but I'm not sure about the way to handle this, since my (uncommon) real name is in my Ao3 handle.

I'm afraid the answer involves not using your real name as your AO3 handle...

My suggestion would be not to worry about it, unless you've been using your real name to post mantisfuck voreworld fics. In which case I feel that people recgonizing you at a meetup may be the least of the potential problems caused by such a thing.

AYRT: Curses. How did you find me out?

They're Green Porno AUs, ok?

Why would you tell them that's your real name? The more unusual it is, the more it sounds like a fake name anyway. Just say "I'm Twinkletoes", and even if they know who you are on AO3, they probably won't suspect that your parents named you that.

AYRT: Oh. That is not why I'm asking the question. I don't care if people know my real name. I was wondering about whether people tend to out your fandom identities at the meetups, or do people keep that under wraps, etc?

NA It depends on the nonnie. I don't, other nonnies do.
