I really do feel more comfortable crushing on people older than me, though I have been known to crush on younger (damn you, Hanryu)

It tends to be about +/- 5 years from whatever age I am, although I admit that I'm bad at telling ages so sometimes the higher end of that ends up being more than 5.

I sometimes think maybe it has something to do with my daddy issues (that I hate my father, I mean, not that I crush on him), but I prefer not to think about that too much.

It really varies - I can have a crush on people of any age. I like some of the young actors from teen shows and movies all the way to people that could be my grandparents age wise. Same in real life. The only notable thing is that the overall age distribution and attitude towards people I'm attracted to hasn't altered much as I've gotten older even in real life - I think I tend to envision myself as a peer with people I crush on even though age and place in life has a large influence on whether that is true. If I crush on an 18 year old it's the part of me that still feels like a teenager and feels like their peer rather than processing the way the dynamic would be different now I'm nearly 30 than when I was 20.

I have always crushed on male celebrities and men in RL who are in their 30s or early 40s.

This has never changed since I was a teenager and I'm now older than many of my crushes.

I'm exactly the same way. For me, roughly about 28 to 48 has always been the most attractive age, since I was a teenager, and still is now that I'm at the north end of that range myself.

They're generally in their mid twenties to their mid thirties. I'm 40.

In real life, 1-3 years older than me. On TV, born about 50 years before me, most of the time... I mean, the character should at least be old enough to have a child my age. I suspect it's mostly a matter of what body types and how actors and actresses are made up at various ages. I like guys who are lean and bony who aren't made up to look like a pretty 20-year-old, and they start allowing that around 40 or 50. I like women who are butch and steely, and that also doesn't start happening until around 40 or 50.

(As evidence that it isn't as purely age dependent but a matter of tropes that vary in frequency with age, I bring you Aeryn Sun, who is my age and the most attractive woman I have ever seen on TV.)
