There are something like 200 episodes of the Clone Wars. This is 199 more episodes than it should have taken the Jedi to figure out that the Emperor is actually working against them

I finally gave up on Whispers from the Rye! Pathetically insecure Wolfram really pisses me off. Also now I have started watching season three and wow did the author ever get Sara's character wrong.

Any nonnies keeping up with Fabricant's* Not As Described?
I was so excited to get a chapter notif this morning and then I read it and... that was a really dull chapter, both action-wise and emotionally. The only thing with major umph happened in the last few paragraphs; the joining the pack and the tattoo thing seems like it should've had emotional impact but just ... didn't. I don't think this story is really working for me now that Stiles and Derek are apart and their ridiculous angst/sexual tension/angst about sexual tension is no more.

You're right, OP, the lack of UST completely diminishes the allure. I did like Laura though, and the slavery flashbacks, hopefully there will be more of that in the future.

I just read several of knew-her-when's Sid/Geno fics, because yay new-to-me, not-on-AO3 fic, but [spoilers] the endings are all unhappy! In her 22k big bang fic, like 1k before the end, Sid and Geno decide to break up because... they're not allowed too much of a good thing, and they have to choose between each other and a Stanley Cup. Not for any external plot reason, no, just because clearly the universe is not willing to let them have both of those things, so they must CHOOSE. And obviously, hockey more important, yada yada.
I just wanted hockey boys in love to get their happy ending, okay? Was that so wrong? :'(

Personally I chose to take that fic as more open-ended, like, I just assume they get back together in the nebulous future when Sid realizes that no, he didn't have to choose. Like, that fic was set/written pre-concussion and everything so there were and are plenty of things still to come that could cause them to re-evaluate.
I saw it as more of a snapshot; what you give up to get something you desire more. And weirdly, I kind of expected the ending from just the way it was written: the promise of something more.

I'm reading Mestiket's Demon Alchemist series (Full Metal Alchemist), an AU in which Ed is a serial killer vigilante - http://archiveofourown.org/series/31364
It was recced on this meme and I went into it highly dubious and thinking there was no way it could ever work, but it's actually really good - plotty, well characterized, moving, and often funny. I'm definitely grateful to whoever recced it.

Not sure if it was me, I did post about it in last fic read a week or two ago. Either way, it's great, isn't it? Seems like such a crazy premise but it totally works. I just love too that it's an AU where the plot isn't just rehashed, which I feel sometimes happens in this type of AU, but rather cleverly modified based on the AU premise.

It was probably you. I picked up a rec last week or so but haven't had time to read until now, so thanks! I'm still working my way through the final chapter and I can't wait to see how it ends.
And yes, it really is good. It's just the kind of canon divergence AU I'm an absolute sucker for, where one thing happens differently and all the ramifications are explored, in terms of both plot and character. I think it's going to be one of my go-to examples for a good writer being able to make anything believable.

Metisket's FMA fics are her only fics that work for me. The fics in her other fandoms always feel very OOC.
That said, I really did enjoy the Demon Alchemist series. ...Except for the ending. I think she put too many things in too few words, and I fucking hate [spoiler trope]sudden unconsciousness as a reason to skip action & plotty scenes in both fics and original fiction.

NA Really? Because I think her "All the Pieces" in Hikaru no Go is fantastic. It is one of my favorite fics in that fandom and besides some small stuff I think it feels pretty IC.

I hate that trope too, so that's unfortunate. I've kind of learned to expect fanfic endings to fall flat for me, because everything gets wrapped up too quickly, so it's usually a pleasant surprise if it doesn't happen rather than a disappointment if it does, and at least this time there are no signs it will be detailed by romance.
Also, critter please?

The fics in the other fandoms we share always feel very OOC, I meant and should have said. I'm not into Hikaru no Go so I take your word on that fic.
