bright points

This morning I just happened to wander past a television while eating my breakfast (new discovery: peanut butter on raisin toast, DELICIOUS BEYOND REASON) and Sunrise was on, and they were talking about The Twilight Phenomenon, yeah, eyeroll, but then they cut to some guy in Auckland whose subtitled occupation was VAMPIRE RESEARCHER. It was awesome! He chatted very earnestly about some paper he wrote about Buffy and the new conception of the vampire as Everyman, and how Twilight has removed the old trope of the light (symbolising God) falling onto the vampire (symbolising Darkness) and destroying it, and now vampires ~sparkle~ (insert hilarious footage from the films here) and isn't that interesting!

Host: So vampires are sexy rather than scary now. As a vampire researcher, does that mean you are now cool?
Dude: *laughs* Nah, I've never been cool, and I don't think I ever will be. LET ME TELL YOU SOME MORE ABOUT A PAPER I WROTE ONCE.

<3 Anyway. It was great. GEEK POWER.

Today has also featured the infant immunisation clinic, and I think my ovaries will never stop shrieking in delight until I get myself knocked up. SHUT THE HELL UP, BOTH OF YOU.
