1)
This review of Retribution Falls (which I've seen in Kinokuniya and been intrigued by on the basis of the steampunk cover) made my morning. It's a highly satisfying smackdown of what looks like a dreadfully failtastic and misogynistic (and, on the basis of the excerpts, poorly-written) book.
2) Markets are the best place to find cheap books: I picked up To Say Nothing of the Dog secondhand for $5, which I am very excited about now that I know how well Connie Willis tells a story.
3) And, well, actual bookshops are the best place to have money fall out of your wallet. I've never read Wuthering Heights and I was physically unable to keep myself from buying the
Ruben Toledo jacket design version. So Gothic! So quirky! Such Edward Cullen hair!
4) Only tangentally book-related, but: I was momentarily possessed by the spirit of my paternal grandmother earlier this week, and walked out of the newsagent with a Christine Lovattt COLOSSUS crosswords book. &CROSSWORDS; Trying to do my assignment instead of filling up the tiny squares with words is proving very difficult.
