It would take a lot to set up a "supermarket sweep" type affair for Big Brother as they aren't allowed to engage in product placement - you'll notice brand names are generally edited out of conversations and the cans they drink from are covered with white paper, masking the brand names.
They get - and always have - a lot of tension out of the shopping list and the time limit because there are *always* people who feel they didn't get a fair say, or that someone in particular is controlling things, but they kind of need a control freak to take charge. It happens year after year and is a source of some of the arguments and nominations so for that reason I doubt it will disappear.
If you guys email me an address I can burn avi files of series 1 of Big Brother UK to DVD for you if you like?
I accept I might hate Gretel more, but nothing will ever make me love Davina. She riles me up massively with her incompetence and playing up to the camera. It's not *about* her, I don't care that she fell down during an ad break, shut up already and tell us who has been voted out! Although that itself is unnecessary now, you can always tell from the crowd reaction - biggest boo is the one coming out. Practically infallible as a guide.

It's interesting they avoid product placement (and yes I did notice the Red Dwarf style cyder cans) but allow commercial music. In the Australian house it's just the opposite. There's product placement galore (particularly by sponsors Starburst this year) but the housemates are punished for singing commercial music.
With relation to your interviewing comment I have to agree. Davina is not the best interviewer. Gretel is actually a pretty decent interviewer, except, as Julianne said, when she lays into housemates she doesn't like. I think we find Davina's comments and frolicking rather endearing, but as I said in my post, I can see how it can become annoying.
I think we'd like to take you up on your Series 1 offer. Email to follow.

There is a "live feed" on E4 for the duration of the air dates, but the sound is usually blocked for about 75% of the time because of two main issues:
1) talking about the outside world in a way that *might* be perceived inflammatory and thus libellous - this covers celebs and people they know from every day life
2) songs
They were a lot more strict about censoring music in the earlier years and have become more lenient. Basically, if the housemates sing they apply for the rights for the music and will broadcast it if it's not too expensive. Similarly they will use selected tunes for parties and so on to cheer up the housemates. Playing music into the house, along with a small selection of alcohol tends to be called "a party" and seen as a big treat.

LOL I don't quite know how to respond to that :-)
Firstly, request noted. Secondly, I don't stop him from playing games, and sometimes I join in. Thirdly, and unfortunately for you, Trackmania is not the only game that he enjoys playing :-)

While I still play games, I think it's fair to say I play a lot less now than I did before I got into this whole relationship-with-a-girl thing. :-)
I still log on to Trackmania Nations here and there, but I think I've lost my mad skillz. I only wish I could get Trackmania United installed on my new Vista machine as well.
And it's also true Trackmania isn't the only game I play. But it may well be when I finally get through Final Fantasy XII. Boy that's a big game.

Interesting reading Relharn.
And Julianne "pretty please with sugar on top" let Relharn play trackmania more.
