doctors, historically, have always made more money than the middle class person.... but, IMO, this is because of the specificity of their knowledge, not through some selfish desire they have to make money.
this sits okay with me, because I dont know how to prescribe anti-inflammatory drugs or perform microscopic surgery.
they have status, and that comes along with living in society; as well as with their knowledge.
engineers get paid more than the average person.... because of their knowledge of how to draw schematics and essentially bring to life the physical manifestations of ideas.
this sits okay with me. i cannot do that; nor can a majority of our population.
POINT: is it really a valid part of the argument regarding universal health care that the profit motive will be taken out?
where does this argument come from?
obviously not from people who dont have much money- i.e. 90 percent of Americans. Yet these are the people who can, in effect, argue against their own place in society. they argue as if they are capitalists; while they are laborers with no considerable capital.
POINT 2: okay, lets assume the selfish argument....
so, you are middle class or lower middle class- i.e. the majority.
if we are selfish machines that are driven mostly or only by our own profit, shouldnt we desire a system that cuts our costs of healthcare?
blegh, the selfish argument doesnt hold water IMO...
true, everyone needs some way of making money- but you have a considerable window of free choice in choosing it...
and as Carney mentioned, many doctors are for the plan lol.
beware of selective news coverage.
most of the time they have think tank people on, or certain doctors....
but they CHOOSE them to be on the show. right?
meanwhile, educated people all over are putting their heads in their hands wondering why this isnt seen as a triumph!
finally! the American empire covers all its citizens. sounds like a positive mood in that light. no?
QUESTION: how can everyone being guarunteed healthcare come to be seen as a tragic event?
