The Dark Knight is...

..at least really disappointing, and probably not a good movie. Heath Ledger is really good in it, but there isn't that much of him, and it feels like they held back on his craziness. Sorry I didn't chime in a little earlier, I lent my comp to Ben Homomoto, so I wasn't able to reply right away.

I talked to Omar the evening of the post and by that time I'd calmed down a little. I do think the movie was better then X3, i just meant that I disliked similar things in both, although to lesser degree in Dark Knight.

I think the biggest problem was that I thought Dark Knight would be better then the 90's cartoon, which it wasn't. Omar said something like 'Well of course it's not better then the cartoon!' The problem I have though is that a lot of people watched that cartoon, so it's not like I'm being that geeky in thinking it should be better.

So... I think if they'd slimed down some of the plot events and focused more on the characters it would have been better. Imagine if instead of the ferry scene at the end (which was dumb) they had 10 more mins of joker talking or showing Harvey Dent or Bruce Wayne having crazy dreams, or Gordon being with his family and not being to get over feeling depressed. None of that stuff would take long, and would avoid having to wrestle with shallow philosophy about society.
