Pictures!

It took until nearly Christmas eve to get the final decorations up, but I was very happy with how they turned out. Very little of what I put up is "Christmasy" in either the biblical or secular sense, I just like putting up winter scenes or colorful vignettes that bring joy to those who look upon them. My nieces and their husband and significant ( Read more... )

Your home looks amazing! Something everywhere you look. It must be a great project to put it all up, and then take it all down again. It's nice that "outsiders" enjoy it, as well. There have been years that the only people who have seen our decorations are the cleaners.

I love the chickadees on the bathroom wall.

I had to go look and see where I got that chickadee sculpture from. I've had it a long time. It is Bovano of Cheshire, which I think is in Connecticut, made in the US by local artists. I just looked at allsculptures.com which is where I bought it from and wow have they expanded.

It is a lot of work to take everything down and put up the new season, and right now I pay my niece and aids to do it although I do the final placement on everything I can reach from the wheelchair. It probably is the last year, but it'll of been a good year!

Oh my, I just did a search on that site. I could go crazy there. Maybe I will save up to buy one wall sculpture for the new house. I love chickadees. I have a watercolor of them and did a cross stitch of them, too.

Do you decorate for spring as elaborately as for winter? If so, I hope we see photos of that as well.

Spring is probably my least decorated season. If I were into bunnies or eggs I could do more, but I'm not. As I find things that are a little more elegant or even more in the folk art type then I think I could add some pieces - I am going to keep my eyes open but I'm not actively looking.

I hope you find something you like at that site. I loved those chickadees and there were other pieces I liked as well but they were expensive so I had to limit myself to one piece. There is a cardinal sculpture up above the cabinet but the difference in quality is great. I got that out of a catalog a year or two before finding the chickadees and it was an eye opener, as Sam Gamgee would say.

I think I like this one best. You've got me following in your decorating footsteps!

It is so funny that you picked that one! I was thinking that if that were available when I had purchased mine, I would have gotten that one. I love that they've added the pine tree detail. They really do some beautiful work
