Thank You w/pictures!

Thank you to everyone who helped make my 50th birthday special. Our family did not make a big deal about birthdays, so they tend to be acknowledged, but parties are unusual. As far as I can remember I think my last party was when I was 13, so you will appreciate my surprise when my aides came on Sunday night and dressed me up and took me out on to my deck:

They brought cake, I played in sand and was dressed up like a pirate LOL. It was fun. One of my aides does wedding and graduation photos and recently added a photo booth with all sorts of props for guests at the request of a client so she had a bunch of fun things.

The stories were wonderful to read and a gift to the fandom, as well as a walk down memory lane to the "good old days" when so many of us were regularly writing and posting. I was reminded of my love for Tolkien's world which of course runs similiar to scriptures, which I love even more as they bring me closer to my Lord Jesus.

I received a very creative precious gift from Dreamflower! Thank you so very much! I love it. I posed it first with Treebeard:

But I moved it to where I can see it all the time:

This year has been hard with repeated infections, with pneumonia round 4 with shingles this last month, but I have had a few physically good days (I have many days that are good mentally/emotionally/spiritually, don't want to make daily life sound miserable). On one, I spent two hours at the mall. We picked up my new glasses, stopped at Macy's and got those new cooling pillows (they really do work) and then went to B&N. They had a classics table, buy one, get one half off, and I picked up some beautiful hard bound classics. I can't even hold one to read it, but with some pillows and book holder etc I can read it in bed with my new reading glasses (no bifocals, the full lens is for reading, which is wonderful if you are always supine). This was my first time in two years out somewhere other than a doctor visit! I slept the next two days, but it was so wonderful - sunny and 70 F so a good day out.

We also took a tour of my yard this week. I need head support, so can't use the scooter, but got some great shots of the yard from my transport chair. My gardeners are doing a great job, recently dividing my lillies and doing some major pruning. I planted 4 Asiatic lilies around 5 years ago and look at them now! I can't see much of my yard, so I am grateful for the pictures:

My Lion King Topaz recently had to be shaved due to mats that got beyond my control. I just have to show the "lion cut":

They did the shaving while he was under anesthesia for dental work, and apparently it agreed with him. He has become the friendliest cat!

I now need help with bathing and dressing, and I am wearing splints to help with contractions in my arms and legs that the aides have to put on and take off of me. So far a solution or adaptive device has made it so I can stay at home. I had a fall April 1 that I thought might end that, but I am so grateful that God saw fit to get me through that as well as every other trial. There are days when the pain and disability are too much and I wonder why my Lord keeps me here, but as long as I can still serve him then I pray he makes me content.
