We ended up with 22-24" of snow, hard to measure exactly when the winds are blowing it around. So much for Monday night football, the
roof of the football stadium collapsed.
All my pictures are taken from indoors, as I have been drifted in until just a little while ago. I'm now completely snow-blowed out and the roads are clear, the malls are open again and the squirrel are fed.
You know its bad in Minnesota when we actually close a mall due to a storm. But windchlls of -30 to -40F are too dangerous for people to be out in.
The worst of the storm
At the worst of the storm, I couldn't hardly see across the street.
Blizzard
The snow hitting the window made it hard to take pictures out the window.
Lone Chicadee
Poor thing was trying to get at the hanging feeders which are just a few feet to the right, but they were crusted over with snow.
Dog trails
The snow had mostly ended and Bella's dad blew out trails for the dogs around my yard and his for them to run and to have somewhere to do their business. Poor Beorn was trying to figure out how to squat in snow that was as high as his belly.
Drifting
The area between my house and the one to my east has 4-6 foot drifts. No sun in this room for a while!
More drifting
My dad put up that 3M plastic stuff to help keep the wind/snow off the screened in deck. All of it held except for the piece above the grill there. So glad we did that, otherwise I think the deck would be full of snow.
Another view
I think the cushion is staying on the swing for the winter. At least the canopy isn't collecting snow.. unlike the Metrodome!
Morning After
The view out my office window this morning. It is about -1F still and the windchill is dangerous. The squirrels will be around looking for food soon. I can't get out the front door due to a drift, but once I can, I will try to get them some peanuts, corn and sunflower seeds.
Snowplow has been by!
The snowplow has been by, so our road is open. I was snowblowed out at 4pm yesterday. WE got maybe 4-6" more snow after, for a total of around 22". Clearly a lot of what is on the driveway is from blowing and drifting.
Annie and the Christmas tree
All the cats like this spot. I hope to have a picture of all of them in front of the tree by the end of the season.
Green-footed Bella
Bella got an iceball caught between her back toes after the last storm, leaving a nickel sized hole in the webbing. Wow, did it bleed. My house looked like a crime scene. She has one more week to go before the stitches come out.
