Today I woke up feeling like today wouldn't go quite right. I was right! Hooray! I didn't manage to do my physics homework. I sat around feeling shitty. Then, when rushing out the door to class, already a couple minutes late, my doorknob came apart in my hand. The screws were still intact and seating in the correct places, but the housing had broken in half. I guess I can't fix it myself, eh? So I shoved the doorknob in enough that it looked intact and locked the deadbolt. My car wouldn't start. I gave up on going to class, at that point, and called Beth freaking out.
I wasn't able to get a hold of jumper cables, so I had Jeff teach me how to push-start my car. By the time Beth and Jeff arrived, my landlord's handyman had also arrived. He worked on the door, helped Jeff and I start the car, and Beth made us dinner while Jeff and I went to Autozone and got a new battery. The man helping us pointed us to the wrong battery, so it didn't fit and we had to wrangle for a while to get things together.
Upsides of today:
-Jeff and I found a wrench in my car wedged behind the old battery. Yay! Free wrench!
-Delicious dinner made by Beth!
-Friends (many) helping me while I froze in a freaked out panic.
-Learning to deal with a dead battery in a reasonable, repeatable way.
