In the past few weeks I've gotten to witness two fascinating surgeries.
1) A dog got hit by a car and had road rash down to the bone on his hind leg. Dr. L stitched him back up and then bandaged him up with sugar and honey. Over the past week I've gotten to see the dog go from not being able to use his leg to putting full weight on it. I've gotten to sit in on a couple of the bandage changes, too, and it's the most awesome thing to see the muscle growing back around the bone and to see the skin grow back where it had been torn off completely.
2) A big dog jumped up to catch a frisbee and landed bad, fracturing a hind leg. Today I got to watch as Dr. L took apart the leg and bolted the bones back together. Remind me never to break a limb.
