Day 6

Oct 09, 2006 14:29

This entry will be quick and dirty, since I'm makings some business calls and then running off to an interview with a Big Cheese.

Robert and I have now stayed up until 3 for three nights in a row. Yesterday morning we both slept in and I goofed around with databases on my computer for a while. Carol picked us up to go to Athens and on the way we stopped at Wendy's for lunch. We pulled in to the concert hall at the very last minute, I grabbed a ticket from John, said hi to Laura, and ran to the balcony for the concert.

The hall at UGA is much smaller, but the acoustics are much better. I've never heard the Elgar so clearly and with such incredible tone. A few times I thought Gil was going to kick audience members in the face, because they were so close and he was dancing around while playing. I fell asleep during the third movement (Bad! Bad Vera!) but didn't miss much. The Planets filled the hall incredibly. It was the best I'd heard it yet, especially at the end when the chorus sings offstage at the end of Neptune. Norman closed the door gradually while they sang, so they really faded out.

On the way back in the car, we played a game called "Botticelli" where you have to guess a famous person. The rules are complex and difficult, so in the entire one and a half hour car ride, none of us guessed Carol's person was Jimmy Stewart.

Robert and I went to a restaurant called Silk for dinner with his friends John and Bobby. I had some really great seafood and spectacular wine. The owner (who is a friend of Robert's) thought I was fantastic and wants to introduce me to hot boys when I come back later this week. Again, I spent an evening with people who've met my parents before me.

Robert and I got home around 11 and ended up talking until 3 about my career aspirations, desire to compose, and anger issues. We concluded that I need to write a new song this week. I'm supposed to get Justin to write the lyrics for me, but I don't know how this will work out.
