I just finished watching the closing of the Olympic games in Athens. That has to be one of the most inspiring events in the world. The passion, unity, and support of such a diversity of people is truly and amazing and wonderful thing to watch. The celebration and the joy in the Greek performances was so uplifting. I love the wheat spiral, which was supposed to represent the abundance and fertility of the earth (the wheat) and infinity (the spiral). Are the Greeks not one of the most welcoming cultures? I really admire all the amazing athletes that threw their entire being into what they loved the most. And the support between teammates, between countries, between competitors even. The mutual respect was always a pretty cool thing to witness. I really hope that all of them can bring that sense of unity back with them to all of their respective countries, and that it will spread. Why should peace only exist during an event as special as the Olympics? Why can't we spread that throughout the world outside the Games? The Olympics represent such amazing ideals, but what is the point if they are not upheld elsewhere?
Spread the word, yo
:-)
