I'll be 44 on Sunday. My daughters and my sister are taking me to my favorite restaurant, an authentic Mexican place that serves the best chorizo and sangrias ever made. We are also going to see the movie "earth."
I hopped on Amazon and Alibris and bought some books from a couple of my favorite lighthearted fiction writers, and some Neil Gaiman for my youngest daughter (Blueberry Girl and The Graveyard Book). I like buying her new books to see what she'll read - I'll just leave them on the coffee table and peek in a few hours later to see what she noticed. Blueberry Girl won this time, although I think her macabre side will eventually pick up the other.
What else do I want for my birthday? Star Trek and Harry Potter!! Yup, I cannot WAIT for those two movies to come out. *grin*
Going on 44 means 45 is very close, and 50 closer than ever. I'm reaching the age where I can start aging backward and it will be appreciated rather than frowned upon. Everyone loves a silly grandma, but looks askance at a silly-behaving 40-something-who-should-know-better.
I want no profundity this year - just simple, peaceful, everyday joys for my birthday. And looking forward to being that crazy little old lady on the hill. Life is good.
