I went to the orthodontist today, and as a result I shall be getting braces in November. I'm quite excited about it, really. I've been irritated by my wonky bottom teeth for quite some time, and while I was never self conscious about it (I didn't avoid smiling, or anything like that), I'm looking forward to getting both that and my upper right pre-molar corrected.
The orthodontist was absolutely wonderful: he has the best bedside manner of any medical professional I have ever encountered. Also, although I don't qualify for NHS treatment (my teeth aren't nearly that bad), they aren't going to charge us because my mum refers all her clients to their practice for orthodontics. Result? I get over £2,000 worth of dental work done for free by a highly qualified professional with consistently amazing results. Which explains my excitement, no?
I also went to visit my GP to ask if I could be put on oral contraceptives. Not that I'm at risk of pregnancy, but there are so many other benefits. I've been put on this stuff called Microgynon which should work for me. I got the prescription filled at the pharmacy down the road, which makes me nervous, because it's the same place as my mum goes to for getting the Concerta XL (ritalin) prescription filled, and they know her well. Do the confidentiality laws apply to pharmacies as well as doctors?
Information on this subject would be much appreciated.
